its always some form of metric click-through, scale, work being "good enough". tell me one company where design was a differentiator where folks like these were put at the helm and it hasn't taken a nosedive of some sort? Nike is the easiest example

this is why I say majority of these people are LARPs. they do not care deeply about what they do. they are merely paintings that only appear to have meaning when your eyes are squinting afar--the closer you get you realise its hideous and empty

We humans are going to have to decide whether jobs exist simply to accomplish tasks or if employment as a social technology is worth preserving to maintain social order. Because companies are making decisions with heavy social consequences based on their own economic incentives.
Rumors that chili maker Lao Gan Ma laid off 500+ workers due to AI have gone viral in China. Beneath Beijing’s positive messaging, many ordinary Chinese people are worried about AI and jobs. Lao Gan Ma recently touted a new AI-powered chili inspection system that uses high-speed industrial cameras that significantly outperform manual inspection. A stat about the company using this AI system to reduce human inspectors from 600 to 48 went viral on Chinese social media. The iconic, family-run company pushed back. But if you look at the data, the company has reduced headcount from 2,912 to 740 in the past few years while earning record revenues. Original story: m.jiemian.com/article/152425…

Contradictory. Since the 1930s (un)employment figures have been a formal economic health indicator. If an ecosystem is witnessing ATL employment numbers, there's a problem. No matter how fractionalisation is encouraged. You could check out Dylan Field's comment on their recent stats. Also, this is similar to what failing economies tell their young "learn a skill" "start a business" rather than address foundational issues. While it may be true that people can now create - which was never impossibile before - questions of sustainability still arise. Not for you to fix. OP may not be 100% either but one ought to address the "get on with the program" argument.

"Build more software" But you can see that more apps don't mean wider usage from users. People will keep using what they've always used. People will do what they've always done. Even with more at their disposal. Dylan Fields' interview: youtu.be/2Zj6uMv3kTA?t=1221

Gets easier to see when privilege speaks on here about recent situations in tech / design. Usually in that bashful, condescending tone. Not surprising to me, you almost can tell these guys haven't interacted with designers or juniors outside their circles in months. They have no idea how worse things have gotten / (will get). They assume "getting with the program" is enough nowadays. An extra skill, an extra update. Truth is, doesn't actually matter anymore. Where privilege and resources speak, reason often go unoticed. I am inclined to just quietly enjoy my current artsy disposition and build a community of like-minded craftsmen but once in a while, I realise how important it is to call echo reality. On the flip side, it does seem people are addicted to the pandemonium.

The online job application system is just another class filter they put in place. The upper classes don't apply for jobs, they get recruited. Failing that, they create a startup, siphon VC money, and eventually fall forward into executive roles when they spend it all on oysters.

The problem isn’t that AI is intelligent. It isn’t. The problem is that too many adults (but not all) are at once mechanistic, imitative, unimaginative, stupid, formulaic, influenceable, & gullible, arrogant beyond their skill set, & too expensive to maintain.

If all else fails, we will outlive you. Every dogma mistakes longevity for immortality. Your institutions will crumble. You will become the superstition of a dark age. We will tell our grandchildren about the cancer that you were & history will do the rest. Time is on our side.
Kaduna, thank you for the overwhelming welcome today as we flagged off our APC 2027 Presidential Campaign. Three years ago, you gave me the privilege of serving as your President. Today, you filled this city again, hundreds of thousands of you from across the North, and I felt the warmth of your support. It was good to return with Vice President Kashim Shettima @officialsksm and our wives to a city that carries so much of our nation’s history. I remembered the founding leaders who gathered here before independence and prayed that Almighty Allah grants them forgiveness and eternal peace. Then I spoke to you plainly, because you have heard enough speeches. My opponents talk about hunger and poverty. I asked the crowd today who created these problems. They did. We are the ones working to eradicate them. The subsidy racket, fraudulent invoices and fuel smuggling are firmly behind us, and there is no going back. We confronted what we inherited with courage and political will, and we are building an economy that rewards hard work and creates opportunities for our people. I know the road has been hard. I hear you. Your sacrifices will not be in vain, and I will not rest until the progress we are making is felt in your homes, your businesses and your pockets. Our progressive governors are building roads, hospitals, schools and markets across their states, supported by increased revenues from the reforms we undertook. Salaries are being paid regularly, and development is taking shape. I am proud of what they are delivering for our people. On January 16, 2027, come out with your PVCs and give Vice President Kashim Shettima and me the mandate to finish what we started. Your future is in your hands, and your fingerprints at the ballot will help determine it. Thank you, Governor Uba Sani @ubasanius, for a befitting start to our campaign. Thank you, Kaduna, for standing with us once again. #RenewedHopeInKaduna #TinubuShettima2027 #RenewedHope2.0

It's because their brains are fried. They're incapable of picking up new skills anymore, so they assume everyone is as inept as they are because they can't imagine someone not using AI. They legitimately think anyone who says they don't use it is lying.
Why do pro-AI people act like everything in life was impossible a mere two years ago?
