Lisandro Martinez’s view that Michael Carrick has been sold short and the squad has not been equipped with the depth to fight on multiple fronts is shared by several senior players - and football staff. It has been discussed in the dressing room with the club aware of frustrations around recruitment. There was a fear ahead of the campaign that the squad would not be strengthened properly - the lack of cover at left-back and striker were major concerns, which is evidenced in how much the need for reinforcements was stressed during pre-season interviews. Told the driving reason behind Martinez’s airing these grievances publicly is fury that Carrick is likely going to lose his job despite not being given the tools to have a fair crack, and players are sick of reset after reset, without questions asked of the people in charge and what direction they’re taking the club in. Carrick and the team have faced criticism, accepted it, and owned up to performances being nowhere near good enough. Where is the accountability from the people who keep leading the club to one doom spiral after another?

Lisandro Martinez putting the pressure where it should ultimately be, on the ownership and hierarchy at Manchester United for their decision-making and the direction of the club. He is correct in saying that the performances have been “a reflection” of the club itself and that accountability stretches well beyond who is in the dugout plus the players. There can be no argument that the squad is lacking depth, quality, balance and the right profiles. He also nails it in terms of cycling through managers, but not having any question marks over what’s happening upstairs. United openly interviewed around Europe for Erik ten Hag’s successor, only to keep him and arm him with new coaches and circa £200m in players before sacking him and his staff for £10.4m. They hired Ruben Amorim despite knowing the squad - which they allowed EtH to shape - was so ill-suited to his approach. They were very aware Amorim was unwavering on his philosophy and promised to persevere with both him and it. Only to then try to dictate style, system and selections to him. They stuck with Michael Carrick only to sell him very short. Let’s not forget the big, long play to the tune of £3m to get Dan Ashworth, before paying £4.1m to axe him after five months. If the performances on the pitch are a mess, they speak to the state of play off the pitch.
Lisandro Martínez did NOT hold back after United's loss to Atletico 😬👀

I think that first half actually warrants a Gary Neville "worst 15 minutes of my life". Horrific stuff.

Managers of other clubs are calling out for more players — and there is a lot of infighting among United fans if we should be happy with what we got or call out our owners for not supporting the club more. I am fairly relaxed to be honest! Either Ineos, the Glazers, Berrada, Wilcox and Carrick know what they will be doing — and we will be fine. Or they don’t, and we will be — badly — exposed. Not 5th or 6th. More like 8-15th. There is not cheating for a PL team that plays in both the PL and the CL. No short cuts. And this time — I think United fans will act. There are no excuses. Ineos aren’t supposed to be greedy Americans. They are supposed to be fans of the club. They are telling us that the club has sufficient resources to compete. They are telling us that a title is coming this or next season. After Carrick’s run, CL qualification, new managers for Liverpool and City — we have a unique opportunity to gain some ground on our rivals that we of course cannot just piss away. Forget about a title — fans see our rivals leaving us in the dust. Fans understand that we must qualify for the CL repeatedly. There can’t be a living soul on this planet who is a United fan who would be OK with the club finishing like 12th next season and loosing even further ground on our rivals. There cannot be a living soul who is a United fan who would contemplate giving our current owners another chance if they fail this summer. Because this time — there are no excuses whatsoever. If we can’t even finish top 5 under these perfect conditions, this club must get new owners and no game should be played in Old Trafford before that is achieved. But this aren’t what we should hope for. We should hope for the club succeeding. And i am never counting United out. It can do that. Santos looks great and Tielemans is a fantastic player. There is no denying that Rashford on the pitch can be an important squad player for a good team, and hence help us if it works out off the pitch. Maybe 2-3 academy players take the step this season and contributes on the pitch. Amass. Lacey. Obi?? Since way to much is at stake and I of course don’t have much insight into all relevant aspects — I would have liked to see the club do a heck of a lot more than what it seems like it is intent on doing. But that doesn’t mean that the other way can’t work. But if it don’t work, surely, we are all United in that this time, we will have had enough.
🚨 Roberto De Zerbi: “The target now is to complete the attacking positions” “We need another couple of IMPORTANT players for sure” “We want the first target, the first level, because we have already important players”, says via @AlasdairGold.

🚨🇵🇹A SPORTING LISBON FAN WROTE THIS: 👇 As a Sporting supporter, I genuinely believe Manchester United fans will come to regret the club’s decision to dismiss Amorim. It was unfair to judge his system without first providing him with suitable midfielders and wing-backs. The club had a young, promising manager with a strong personality, someone who was also willing to challenge an underperforming board. Now, United risk being held back by veteran players who remain more out of attachment than ambition, seemingly willing to see the club decline rather than pursue new challenges elsewhere. I also find it unlikely that many managers would be eager to take on the Manchester United role at this stage of the season. Amorim was transparent about his system and preferred style of play from the very beginning. He interviewed with Liverpool, who ultimately decided not to proceed because they wanted to play a different way, which is entirely reasonable. Manchester United, however, chose to back him. Given that he had clearly communicated his philosophy from day one, it is difficult to understand why the board later began to micromanage his work. Well, I guess I understand why they did it, because of the pressure from the likes of Gary Neville. Rather than instructing him on how to coach, he should be allowed to do his job, while the scouting department should have fulfilled theirs by providing him with suitable midfielders and wing-backs. During his time at Sporting, he revolutionized the club’s style of play, to the extent that even the B team adopted his system to ease player transitions into the first team. And let me tell you, we played beautifully. It wasn't boring, it wasn't slow, we completely dominated teams both in the Portuguese league and europe. This is a long-term project that requires trust and patience. Thoughts on his take? 👇💬 #MUFC

🚨Here’s what Ruben Amorim has done at United 👇 — Drastically improved our physicality & fitness. — Managed minutes — fewest injuries in the league. — Stopped leaks from the dressing room & lineup. — Made sure nobody plays unless 100% fit. — Turned a toxic squad into a United family. — Removed the bad apples for good. — Brought accountability back — players now fight for their spots, not just their wages. — Restored discipline and professionalism that’s been missing since the Ferguson era. He started from scratch, built structure, culture & belief — not shortcuts. Results will come, but what he’s done behind the scenes is massive. 🔴 #MUFC

Only Gakpo and Ekiteke have scored more goals at Anfield in the League this season than Harry Maguire. It took Mbeumo just 62 seconds score a goal at Anfield. Something Wirtz and Isak have failed to do in 323 minutes between them... How about that...
