🚨🇬🇧 Turning Point UK's CEO was filmed offering an undercover reporter a menu of beatings, stabbings and killings through a Glasgow contact who says he arms the UVF Al Jazeera’s undercover operation started in 2021 when a reporter joined the British offshoot of the American student group. Its CEO Jack Ross, a Conservative candidate in 2023, introduced the reporter to Allan Nesbitt, a convicted criminal and self-described UVF member, agreed on camera to pay him to stage a fake pro-Zimbabwe rally, and priced out what Nesbitt’s friends could do to a person, from cutting faces to MURDER. The UVF is the Ulster Volunteer Force, a Protestant loyalist paramilitary from Northern Ireland’s Troubles that killed over 500 people between 1966 and 1999, including 33 in one day in the Dublin and Monaghan bombings, and is still banned as a terror group. Since the peace deal it has run mostly as a drug gang that kept the name and the guns. Nesbitt reportedly met the reporter in a London hotel, offered to have a fictional business rival “finished,” claimed he’d personally stabbed a man to death, showed a shotgun and pistol on a video call and said the fee would buy weapons smuggled from Scotland into Northern Ireland. Ross says it was a joke. The joke came with a price list, a weapons demo and a smuggling route, and the police now have a name and a video... and wasn't particularly funny. Somebody in Turning Point UK’s donor base should be asking when the fundraising dinners turned into this. Source: Al Jazeera / Writer: Daniel

In a short while, Secretary of State for Education, @LucyMPowell will present the Sir David Bell review into antisemitism in schools and colleges. This review is billed as the 'Independent review into antisemitism in schools and colleges'. I've spoken to a number of individuals and organisations that submitted evidence to the Bell Review when the call for views from people with relevant lived experience, knowledge or expertise of antisemitism in schools and colleges went out earlier this year. A number of them have gotten back to me to relay their horror and dismay that the review seems overly focussed on issues such as the presence of Palestine solidarity badges and other imagery in schools rather than the multitude of clear examples where Jewish students have been targeted with antisemitic abuse, discrimination and hatred. It appears that the review is coming down hard on expressions of Palestine solidarity while being rather light on pupils who do Hitler salutes or make jokes about Jews and money. Having done a little research I do also have some serious concerns as to the impartiality of this review and also the recommendation that schools adopt the IHRA definition of antisemitism despite it not being possible to make this compulsory, nor is it legally actionable. If we care about tackling antisemitism in society, ensuring we get to it where it manifests in our schools and among young people, then we need to put a stop to the weaponisation of antisemitism and its use for political football where Israel-Palestine is concerned. This review is fundamentally biased, ideological, and linked to efforts to tie Jewish identity with support for Israel while suppressing pro-Palestine expression as 'antisemitic' and intimidating for Jews. The reality of course is that young Jews in the UK are way more intimidated and frightened by their classmates doing Hitler salutes, making jokes about the Holocaust, doing gas sounds towards them because they're Jewish, being physically assaulted for being Jewish, being bullied and isolated for being Jewish, being sexually assaulted (reports of kids demanding to see the circumcised penis of a Jewish school child in year 8), and all the other antisemitic shit that is happening in our schools. I'm also reminded of what we learned from the documentary film @IsraelismFilm about the efforts to indoctrinate young Jews into seeing Israel as integral to their identity as Jews, that when Israel is criticised they are being personally attacked as Jews, and that they can only see themselves as Jewish if they support and love Israel. Anyway, below are some very serious issues relating to Sir David Bell, his lack of impartiality, and the failure to declare vested interests of himself and a number of those on the reference group: - David Bell's role as a permanent secretary at the department of education was not disclosed as a conflict of interest. - David Bell is named on the national council of the 'National Study Group', an educational charity, that in its mission statement says that its goal is to "initiate or expand active links and research collaboration between academics, specialists and centres-of-excellence in the UK and their counterparts in Israel." The ASG is "primarily a UK-Israel operation" and rather worryingly the "only issue on which ASG has firm policy is opposition to BDS. The Charity is totally committed to the universality of knowledge and rejects any disruption to cross-national co-operation." - The ASG, of which Sir David Bell is named as a member of national council, provides educational talks about Israel to schools. - Executive director of the ASG, John D.A. Levy, is on the advisory board of Academic Friends of Israel and a separate charity, the friends of Israel educational foundation. - The Friends of Israel Educational Foundation carries out hundreds of school talks in the UK. 1/?

As someone who both knows Eleanora Folan irl and who doesn’t agree with her on things as far ranging as assisted dying to communism; picking on someone for their physical disabilities and claiming they can work because they post online, is pretty foul behaviour.

it's a bit weird to see this play out after leaving the greens behind, but I think they've shot themselves in the foot by providing an semantic argument to their core message. instead of fighting genocide and racism in practice directly they will be guided into language debate
The ‘Zionism is racism’ motion will likely damage Zack Polanski’s chance of winning the Holborn & St Pancras by-election. Given the tone of news coverage this morning voters undecided about the Greens may be put off. The motion itself was one of around 200 tabled. It’s likely that witnessing the Gaza genocide and the inaction of world leaders got the motion over the line; of course it was Hitler’s genocide of the Jews that accelerated the establishment of Israel. My personal view is that while the desire for self determination by any group of people is not inherently racist. However, if, in practice, that self determination results in displacement, ethnic cleaning, bureaucratic apartheid, and mass killings then that is racism.

The pig industry relies on the blood of pregnant horses. Pregnant mares are kept on ‘blood farms’ and are repeatedly, forcibly impregnated so their blood can be harvested for PMSG - a hormone used by the pig industry to manipulate mother pigs’ reproductive cycles and increase litter sizes. Blood farms operate in countries including Iceland, Argentina and Uruguay. Their product ends up in pig farms here in the UK. It’s another example of how animal agriculture treats animals as production units - extracting whatever it can from their bodies to produce more animals, more ‘meat’ and more profit. And while these practices are horrific, the problem isn’t simply that animals are being treated badly. The problem is that we’re treating animals as commodities at all. There is no ‘ethical’ way to exploit animals for profit. Animals are not products. They are individuals who deserve to live for themselves. You choose what you pay for every day. Choose vegan. Generally disagree with Jacob Rees-Mogg on almost everything but this is such a good example of how insane America has gone that Carlson genuinely thinks the UK is more authoritarian than Russia and even JMS is shocked:
Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg explains how Britain, which has a combat ready military force about half the size of New York’s police department, must prepare for war with Russia. 0:00 What Is This War and Why Does Britain Need to Fight It? 19:40 Is There Majority Support for War With Russia? 25:02 Will We See a Nuclear Exchange? 26:18 Is Using Nuclear Weapons Accepted in Christianity? 33:15 Was WWII Good for Britain? 39:08 Is Ukraine a Sovereign Country? 47:29 Would Hitler Have Invaded Britain? 53:45 Britain's Attacks on Anti-War Voices 58:38 Is a War With Russia Worth the Lives of Britons? 1:03:07 What Has the British Government Done With Palestine Action?

turning reports of sexual violence into spectacles of debate serves misogynists two ways. they get the cruel pleasure of retraumatising people and it establishes a kind of assumed-cost for people reporting their violence. hard to imagine they don't know what they're doing.

i'm half convinced some leftists haven't left the liberal-adjacent 2010s american sociology where reactionary chauvinism treats entire populations as deserving or undeserving monoliths (not too far from bourgeois zionist beliefs) abandoning solidarity entirely
