Today Jóhann Jóhannsson would have turned 57 but left us in 2018. Dear friend, I miss you. Jóhann’s magical music lives on, though, and just yesterday a new album was released: his tape loop-orchestra collab with US composer Adam Wiltzie. Rich, tactile, mesmerizing. As always ❤️

Experiencing this movie made me think of film sound in new ways. The Dardenne Brothers use the gritty sounds of reality in extremely evocative ways, building intensity and poetry through sound instead of music. And Rosetta’s breaths create an incredible intimacy. A sonic wonder.

Today Ann Kroeber would have turned 80. She passed two years ago but her unique sounds for movies like Blue Velvet and The Black Stallion and her incredible sound libraries are an eternal inspiration. I think of all my magical memories with her today. Thanks for everything ❤️
