Whoever still thinks Javascript is for quiche eaters should try this. It does exactly what one would hope it doesn't do.

If you know Verilog, have a wee circuit idea (fave 7400 TTL homage?) and a few hours, you can still catch tomorrow's #TinyTapeout2 shuttle. 1. Review tinytapeout.com 2. Fork github.com/TinyTapeout/tt02-… 3. Edit, commit, push, watch CI GDS action, repeat. 4. Submit. $100.

Here's me just sneaking in my #tinytapeout design just before the deadline. Thanks for the reminder email @matthewvenn! This design spins the LEDs on the seven segment display and makes a siren sound. It's a very small, very annoying fire-truck simulator.

Raising the Stones by Sherri S Tepper. I would say Acts of the Apostles by @jsundmanus, but he is, of course, very famous :)
what's your favorite pre-2010 sci-fi book that isn't from a very famous author (not Le Guin, Asimov, Bradbury, etc)?
Great advice.

How do we feel about "RealDeviceButForTest" as a class name?
What? The? Actual?

Got all the applicants in one room and conducted a group interview (was not told it would be a group interview). At the end went around the room and asked everyone who they would hire out of the group
"I could care less" and "I couldn't care less" mean *exactly the same thing*. There's no explaining. We all just need to deal.
“Couldn’t care less” means you actually care; two negatives. The saying is “I could care less.”
Comments. Every language should have comments. I will die on this hill.
What programming language feature do you think should exist in every language?

I'm a bit unimpressed with the latest @veritasium video. Derek spends the lead up talking about DC and continuously operating AC, but the answer to the question posed relates to transients. It also requires a tricky definition of a lightbulb being "on". youtu.be/bHIhgxav9LY
I use octal all the time! Octal is the most convenient form in which to express a literal zero when writing in C or one of its syntactic descendants.
has anyone ever used octal for anything other than unix permissions? I swear, 99% of uses of octal must be first year CS students encountering baby’s first not-a-compiler-bug
DBNZ "decrement and branch if not zero" as used in the single instruction architecture machine.

🤦🏿‍♂️Ah... We're back on the "Should men take paternity leave / do childcare?" stage again. The facts haven't changed. Some dudes are out here like, "A man protects his family!" But then they don't even want to protect their partners from a crying baby. Weak.
For men whose masculinity is so fragile that simply holding a normal diaper bag or baby carrier will send them tumbling into the abyss of femininity, bad news: you weren't "manly" to begin with. For everyone else: The confidence to just care for your children normally, is hot.

Said it before, I'll say it again: Software Engineers are poets. Fundamentally creative, highly structured writing, described as beautiful and elegant when done well, cryptic to the uninitiated, much fussing over word choice and placement of punctuation.
