We’re about to see a breakout in local model capabilities. Flint scores 54.9% on Terminal-Bench 2.1 with ~2B active parameters. That’s ahead of every other small MoE and two of the three dense ~30B models. It only needs about 24GB and runs at 125+ tok/s on a MacBook Pro.

We’re opening a research preview of Claude Duet, a new app where Claude works as a proactive agent. It comes to you with what needs your attention, completes tasks you ask of it, keeps working when you step away, and checks with you before it acts on your behalf.

KronLSTM is out!! | Candidate to replace TRANSFORMER in LLMs KronLSTM is built on the Kronecker Delta Rule: instead of correcting the vector stored at a key, it corrects a single scalar, how strongly this key is bound to this value. P: arxiv.org/abs/2610.26834

Stanford researchers did it again. They made language models 31× faster. Right now, every major AI, from ChatGPT to Claude, writes exactly the same way. It guesses the next word. One token at a time. Left to right. It’s like writing an essay on a typewriter while looking through a straw. It is computationally exhausting and incredibly slow. Some labs tried to fix this with "diffusion models”, generating everything at once and polishing it over and over. But that requires massive compute and endless denoising passes. A team from Stanford just dropped a paper that kills both methods. It’s called "Next-Concept Modeling" (NCM). Instead of predicting the next word, the AI predicts the next concept. It generates text exactly how a professional writer drafts a book. Coarse to fine. First, it generates a high-level conceptual outline of the entire sequence. Then, in parallel, it fills in the precise words and details across the whole document at once. The results are staggering. • Generates text up to 31x faster than current diffusion language models. • Requires drastically fewer computing steps to reach high-quality outputs. • Actually outperforms traditional step-by-step models on complex reasoning tasks like Sudoku. AI is no longer blindly typing word by word, hoping the sentence makes sense when it reaches the period. It is conceptualizing the entire thought before it opens its mouth.

"Depth Memory" Attention Residuals stores earlier Transformer layer outputs for retrieval but this memory grows with depth. Linear Depth Memory (LDM) maintains a fixed-size memory across layers, using recursive least squares to store and retrieve earlier layer information alongside the standard residual stream. On 400M and 1.5B models, LDM achieves lower perplexity than standard residuals, mHC, and AttnRes, while maintaining competitive zero-shot accuracy and comparable throughput with optimized kernels. alphaxiv.org/abs/2610.18809

Google DeepMind proved you can boost an LLM’s reasoning without adding a single parameter. They proposed a 4th scaling dimension beyond depth, width, and params. For years, the entire AI industry has been operating on a single assumption: to make an AI smarter, you have to make it bigger. More parameters. More GPUs. More money. If you wanted elite reasoning, you had to pay the massive enterprise API tax. But, DeepMind published a paper that completely breaks the scaling laws of artificial intelligence. They proved you can exponentially boost an LLM's reasoning capability without adding a single new parameter. Zero extra size. Zero extra memory footprint. How? They introduced a concept called "Virtual Logic Depth". Instead of building a massive tower of new layers, they just take the existing layers and run the data through them in a loop. They force the same parameters to think about the problem multiple times before answering. DeepMind showed that the number of parameters dictates a model's knowledge capacity, but not its reasoning capability. This fundamentally changes the economics of AI. Small businesses, operators, and developers don't need to rely on trillion-parameter monopolies to solve complex problems anymore. We can take tiny, cheap, local models and loop them until they out-reason the giants. The future of AI isn't about building a bigger brain. It's about teaching a small brain how to think twice.

"Mathematical Theory of the Transformer" is an extensive, 825-page mathematical monograph exploring the theoretical foundations of Transformer architectures. It covers a remarkable range of topics, including embeddings and positional encoding, self-attention and multi-head attention, matrix decompositions, linear algebra, spectral analysis, information geometry, training dynamics, redundancy, optimization, and incremental Transformer architectures. This is an advanced, mathematically rigorous read for anyone interested in understanding the mathematical structures underlying Transformer-based AI systems, including modern generative AI. doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.20199…

You can now run Google's Gemma 4, a 26-billion-parameter AI model, on a basic 8 GB MacBook Air. Free, offline, no subscription. The model normally needs 14.3 GB of memory. TurboFieldfare keeps a small 1.35 GB core in memory and pulls only the parts each token needs from your SSD, so it runs in about 2 GB of RAM. → about 5 to 6 tokens per second on an 8 GB M2 MacBook Air, and 31 to 35 on an M5 Pro → native Mac app: click Download Model, then Load Model, then start typing → also comes with a command line and a local OpenAI-compatible server, so other apps can use it Needs an Apple Silicon Mac on macOS 26, Apple's Swift tools, and about 15 GB of free disk space. git clone github.com/drumih/turbo-fiel… cd turbo-fieldfare swift build -c release .build/release/TurboFieldfareMac Apache-2.0, 6.9K stars.
