Agents that work all day shouldn’t pay to relearn everything every half hour. Love this.
You can now choose 12-hour prompt caching in the API. Persistent agents, like dots, reuse context throughout the day. You can keep shared instructions, tools, and context cached longer and pay the lower cached-input rate, even when requests are hours apart.

Love that this is being shaped by what real teams need. Legacy code deserves some love too.
Our latest model advances bring stronger capabilities for building and migrating software in low-resource programming languages such as COBOL, Fortran, and Visual Basic. These languages power software that banks, governments, and businesses depend on. Progress here means understanding decades of business logic and helping developers modernize those systems while preserving what works. We’re building these capabilities around the challenges developers and enterprise customers bring us. If your team is working on these systems, tell us which languages and workflows we should tackle next. openai.com/index/low-resourc…

This is the side of AI progress people don’t talk about enough. Glad cryptographers are paying attention now, not later.
OpenAI’s release of more than 300 AI-solved math results has alarmed leading cryptographers. Some warn that further breakthroughs could threaten the encryption protecting online payments, messaging apps and cryptocurrencies. Read more: thein.fo/4B8aKSL

Getting this close to Astra at this price is a big deal for anyone building every day.
Replying to @OpenAI
GPT-6.1 Sol is a significant upgrade over GPT-6 Sol across coding, computer use, and complex professional work—approaching GPT-6 Astra on several benchmarks at substantially lower cost.

GPT-6.1 Sol: near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price. It’s the most cost-efficient model for its performance available today.

Sam Altman (CEO of Open AI): "You no longer need to write prompts." In just 38 minutes, he explains how to use ChatGpt at a level that most people can't even imagine. It's talk he gave to stanford students. A friend sent me the recording last night. After watching it, I realized I was only taking advantage of about 15% of what this tool can really do. Watch it in full and then read the guide l leave below on how to create a system that prompts itself.

I’d start getting ready for a smaller token bill. That’s all I’ll say.
Some interesting rumours I've been hearing about OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Astra. And things are getting really INSANE. OpenAI: Astra 6.1 could reportedly be getting ready for release as soon as next week, after it was shelved ahead of DevDay over safety concerns. The rumours about what users could get are wild: → Could match or beat Claude Opus 5.5 → Could use significantly fewer tokens → Could be significantly faster and cheaper That's the part I can't ignore. OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Sol reportedly approaches Astra's performance on coding and computer use at just 1/5 of Astra's standard token prices. So Astra needs to bring something genuinely better to the table. If it delivers stronger autonomous work while burning fewer tokens, Opus 5.5 could have a fucking problem.

Finally, help with my 40 open tabs!! This one’s going to get a lot of use.
A few big upgrades for Chrome users today! We’re bringing the power of computer use to anyone who uses Chrome. First up: ChatGPT can now use your tabs in Chrome to make answers more useful and get things done for you. If you’re in Chat, it can look across your open tabs and gather info. If you’re in Work, ChatGPT can control your Chrome tabs to get things, like sending messages, filling out forms, or downloading files. It can even help you organize and group that pile of tabs you have open.

Up to 8x faster is wild. Less waiting, more building.
Ultrafast is rolling out today for GPT-6.1 Sol in the API, Codex, and ChatGPT Work. Near-Astra intelligence at up to 8x faster speeds than Sol Standard, so you can build as fast as the ideas come.

Fascinating to see it all mapped out like this. The orchestrator idea especially clicked for me.
OpenAI Dots is insane for building a 24/7 AI company... I mapped the whole OpenAI Dots architecture into one paper: agents, models, tools, memory, delegation, guardrails and the revenue layer. Here are the 10 steps: step 1 → stop treating Dots like a chatbot. each Dot runs in a persistent cloud environment with its own browser, terminal, files, memory and scheduled execution. close the laptop and the workflow keeps moving step 2 → hire by responsibility. give every Dot one clear domain, dedicated sources, a working style, an approval boundary and a trigger. a "general helper" has no role, only undefined context step 3 → make one Dot the orchestrator. you give it the objective, it decomposes the work, delegates to specialized agents, checks their outputs and merges everything into one deliverable step 4 → stop being the courier between agents. with isolated delegation, each worker gets only the context and tools it needs, executes in its own environment, then returns a structured result to the orchestrator step 5 → connect the real business stack: cloud browser sessions, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, internal dashboards and APIs. a Dot without tools is still just a conversational layer step 6 → put the company on a clock. recurring routines and event triggers turn one-off tasks into persistent operations. research, monitoring, reporting and pipeline checks can run while nobody is online step 7 → automate the reversible, gate the irreversible. let agents read, research, analyze and draft autonomously, but require human approval before messages send, money moves, records change or production code ships step 8 → route intelligence by cost. keep the strongest model on orchestration, conflict resolution and final audits, and let cheaper high-context models handle background research, classification and repetitive execution step 9 → give the company shared memory. project specs, approved claims, pricing, decisions and requirements live in one persistent workspace, so every agent works from the same source of truth instead of rebuilding context from old chats step 10 → connect the loop to revenue. research finds the signal, outreach creates the opportunity, execution moves the work forward, analytics measures the result and monitoring discovers the next action AI stops being something you open when you need an answer. It becomes an operating layer that keeps economically useful work moving after you log off. Copy the complete OpenAI Dots architecture blueprint, then read the full roadmap below ↓

Faster models, smarter UI, agents working in parallel. The way we use AI is changing really quickly. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

End of an era for GPT-5.5 in Codex. Excited to see what gpt-6.1-sol does next :)
Codex update: GPT-5.5 retirement in Codex What changed: • GPT-5.5 retires from Codex for ChatGPT-authenticated users on October 14, 2026 at noon PDT (19:00 UTC). • OpenAI API and API-key-authenticated Codex sessions are unaffected. • Migrate to gpt-6.1-sol where available and update any configurations, agents, or scripts that reference gpt-5.5. Details in thread.

Everyday questions getting visual answers is such a nice change. Seeing it pop up everywhere already.
GPT-6 and Intelligent UI, now rolling out in ChatGPT for everyone. Intelligent UI in ChatGPT delivers fast, interactive answers that make everyday questions more visual, complex topics easier to grasp, and interactive tools for your task available on the spot.

Without this, no GPT as we know it. Love seeing that story told
Awesome day, @satyanadella! Windows sparked a platform shift that created a new industry for NVIDIA. Then we invented programmable shading GPUs for DirectX, which led to CUDA. Then we partnered to bring GPU supercomputers to Azure, which helped OpenAI train GPT. That collaboration inspired us to reinvent Windows for the age of personal agents. 4 years. Thousands of engineering years between us. So proud of what we built together.

Love that you can actually see what each agent is doing and check its work when it’s done. That visibility is what makes me trust handing over bigger tasks.
GPT-6 Astra Pro in ChatGPT got an upgrade with faster responses and improved use of plugins and tools. And now, multiple agents can tackle different parts of a task in parallel. You can follow each agent’s progress and open completed tasks to review their work. Now available to Pro users in the Chat tab.

Honestly one of my favourite parts of GPT-Live-1. A voice can make an app feel so much more like yours, and now you can just describe the one you want.
Building apps with GPT-Live-1? Give them a voice that fits. Here’s how to shape a voice with a prompt or choose from new international preset voices:
