My intuition too. No one has ever had a direct experience of matter. Everything we experience is mental, it arises in dependence on mind. Simplicity suggests that the objects we perceive are also mental in nature. Conversely, it’s very hard to explain how mind arises from matter.

Feel like there’s overlap with the psychedelics debate. I see where the objections come from, but jhanas are conditioned states, often conditioned by being on retreat & certain kinds of practice. If this gizmo puts the right conditions in place for wholesome mind states, why not?

Doing a practice I learned from @chakathemighty. On the in-breath, I think to myself, "metta." On the out-breath, I think to myself, "karuna." It's working.

Perhaps, although I might also suggest that there’s knowledge one can’t have without (thereby?) being kind.

Picture a cat on the front lawn completely focused on a gopher hole, waiting for the gopher to stick out its head. The cat has perfect concentration. But it's not mindful. Now the cat wakes up as from a dream and says, "I am a cat. Watching a gopher hole." This is mindfulness.

pretty wild and gratifying stuff. Nagarjuna seems to confirm that the infinite web has no ontological foundation and that its apprehension is an emptying-process... to me this looks like an inversion of a pragmatist model of inquiry...

Compassion. It's hard to be a person. It's not because you're doing it wrong.

I have a number of friends who started with TWIM, and they really like it. From what I've seen, it seems logical that it would develop into the kinds of compassion and emptiness practices that Analayo teaches, as well

Does the equation create the fractal or does the fractal create the equation? Does the objective reality create the subjective experience or does the subjective experience create the objective reality? 😵

I keep reading that autistic people rely on “scripts” for social interaction. I think allistics do too, they just don’t know it.

I did a tv show to discuss whether we’re in an attention crisis. “Your answers mustn’t be longer than 20 seconds,” they said.
