I'm delighted to say that in the recent local elections, I was elected in Reigate to the new East Surrey Council, where @LibDems also won overall control. For all of us, this is an huge honour, privilege and responsibilty. We intend to use it well.

This ministerial letter fails to engage with any of the substantial criticisms of the draft Conversion Practices Bill. The bill isn’t compatible with rights to family life, to free expression and to live in a society governed by a predictable, comprehensible criminal code.

Ben, I write about the chances of Putin nuking Ukraine at length in Killer In The Kremlin.
Putin won't use a nuke. Because...
1) The Chinese will kill him if he does. A nuke would cause a global recession and the Chinese need a rich West to buy their stuff. Xi has said: "no nuclear adventurism."
2) Russia is next door to Ukraine. The wind blows west to east. If he nukes Ukraine, he irradiates western and southern European Russia.
3) The Russian machinery, aware of 1) and 2) above will stop him.
So your dark pessimism is not founded in facts.
You are Kremlin whispering.
I learnt Russian at school; was taught Russian politics at LSE by a professor who had lived through both Russian revolutions of 1917; befriended four members of the Russian opposition - poisoned, then shot; shot; shot; poisoned, survived, poisoned, died; met and challenged Putin to his face in a mammoth museum in Siberia in 2014.
Please set out your expertise in Kremlinology here.
If you can't, read Killer In The Kremlin.
And learn to think.

Given Trump’s latest tilt to supporting Russian dictator Putin in his failing war of aggression against Ukraine, we Europeans must step up to the plate. UK, France and Germany can’t allow Moscow to prevail. It would be the death knell of our peace and security for a generation.

I’m seriously disturbed by this black woman who doesn’t support the looting in France. A clear case of internalised racism.
Why won’t they just do what they’re told?

“If a man can be a woman, there is no such thing as a woman. That might not matter to you personally, but it matters to millions of women who don’t have the luxury of pretending that their sex doesn’t matter. I remain on their side.”
Brava @jk_rowling ❤️
I wrote a new piece about women’s rights and whether or not I want trans people dead. (Spoiler: I don’t)👇

LIB DEM SILENCE: We have made every effort to engage all political parties on the issue of single-sex spaces in the NHS and to ensure they hear directly from female staff affected by the impact of gender identity policies in the workplace.
We have met with representatives from the Labour Government, the Conservatives, and Reform.
We have also repeatedly reached out to the @LibDems, particularly following their troubling treatment of gender-critical women at their recent conference.
From @EdwardJDavey, @timfarron, and @HelenMorganMP, we have received only silence.
Given that silence, we hoped the party's spokesperson for women and equalities, Marie Goldman MP, would want to hear the experiences of frontline NHS nurses involved in a landmark legal case.
Again, silence.
Women who believe that biological sex matters, that truth matters, and that every person deserves dignity and respect are hearing that message loud and clear

**Ed Davey fightback interview**
:: ‘Sharp things’ were said in crunch meeting with Lib MPs on Tuesday
:: ‘Absolutely’ he wants to lead the party into the next general election
:: Rebel in chief Charlie Maynard won’t be stripped of whip despite criticism
:: Social media cut through hasn’t been good enough and must improve
:: Lib Dems on committees will be brought more into policy development
:: Davey now explicitly targeting a return to government, ie another coalition
:: He makes clear full proportional representation will be his key demand
:: …and Davey argues it may *not* need a referendum; manifesto promise enough
In short: Ed Davey’s pitch to rebels questioning his leadership is he’s experienced and wily enough a negotiator to lead them back into government
(The unsaid bit: Most likely by striking a deal to share power with Andy Burnham if there’s a hung parliament)

This is why the TQ and their supporters are a cult and you can’t reason with them. Connie Shaw has a respectful chat with this man and snookers him and he agrees and then more or less says bad luck males should be able to invade all female spaces. He’s a vile misoginist prick and no better than the sex mimics.

In 1983, the @LabourParty led by Michael Foot suffered a crushing defeat in the general election with 28% of the vote. Today @ElectCalculus suggests that Labour is on 28% of the vote and set to win a majority of 56 seats! Can @andyburnham really go the country on a system allowing a party with 28% of the vote to win a majority?
Our latest MRP poll with @PLMRLtd predicts that if there were a general election now, #Labour would win 353 seats, a majority of 56.
#Conservatives would be the official opposition on 90 seats and #Reform would be third on 81 seats.

This really shouldn't be news or a headline. It's an abomination that 100's of 1,000's of pounds (public funds) have been wasted by NHSE and other public bodies, fighting women who bravely challenged the infringement and erosion of their basic yet fundamental rights.
The NHS has published single-sex guidance for staff and patients.

The BBC has announced a two-part documentary about J.K. Rowling. And already, its choice of language raises questions.
The BBC’s press release says the series will explore Rowling’s “dramatic rise, cultural influence and contested legacy”, describing how the Harry Potter author became “one of Britain’s most polarising public figures”.
According to the programme makers, her “unflinching personal beliefs have sparked a fraught and divisive dialogue that continues to this day”.
But whose framing is this?
Rowling has become one of the UK’s most prominent defenders of women’s sex-based rights, using her considerable influence and wealth to challenge policies she believes undermine those rights.
Yet the BBC’s announcement appears to frame her beliefs as the source of division, rather than asking why defending those rights has become so contentious.
Women’s rights do get a brief mention - but only in the context of how her supporters see her, contrasted with critics who describe her as an opponent of “trans equality”.
Words matter in journalism. So do the editorial assumptions behind them.
Of course, we haven’t seen the documentary yet. So we’ll reserve judgment until the show is aired.
But when a broadcaster describes a woman’s defence of sex-based rights in terms of her “contested legacy” and “divisive” beliefs, it’s reasonable to ask what assumptions are already shaping the story.
We’ll be watching with interest.
