Open-source "codes of conduct" are cancer and need to be retired; I deeply regret championing them. The inevitable outcome is an unproductive mob controlling projects through intimidation. Given enough time, it pushes away people who would contribute patches. Eventually, all that remains is an unproductive military-police class playing social status games.

Amen. We never needed to codify basic decency, but in doing so created legalisticl weapons of mass coercion and usurpation. Never again.

I really don't know which lunatic decided that a White kid born in 2005 owes the world an apology for something that happened 300 years ago
Slavery wasn't some White invention. Every civilization did it. Africans sold other Africans. The Arab slave trade ran for over a thousand years and enslaved millions. Nobody talks about that
And guess who actually ended it? The West. Britain banned the trade and literally sent its navy out to hunt down slave ships. That part somehow never makes it into the lecture
Meanwhile, slavery still exists today in parts of Africa and the Middle East. Mauritania only made it a crime in 2007. You will never see the outrage or the protests... Nothing but silence
But in the West, people are told to feel guilty for being born. Criminals get excused because "the system made him do it." Repeat offenders get arrested again and again and walk right back out. The victim gets forgotten and the criminal gets treated like the victim
Seriously, how did it get this bad? The same civilization that built the modern world and ended slavery is now tearing itself apart and calling it morality
You have no reason to feel guilty for things that happened centuries ago. You don't even remember what you ate last week
This isn't compassion, it's insanity
This is literally civilizational suicide

There's something important about sales and marketing that a lot of Christian evangelists don't understand very well.
People buy your product when, and only when, it solves a problem that they, themselves, have already decided they have.
So the trick is to create a story, or get them to create a story, which links in your product as a solution to a problem that's already bothering them.
This is why a major portion of those who convert to Christianity in adulthood are whores, junkies, and jailbirds. These are the three main groups are actually prone to think of "sin" as a personal problem they have.
And it's also why evangelism is considerable less successful with other, ordinary adults. Most of them don't sit around thinking "what am I going to do about all this sin I have?" Instead, what they experience is someone coming along, telling them they are bad, and that they can be saved from punishment if they do what they're told.
Which feels a little bit like a weird variety of mob shakedown. "Like, we wouldn't want something bad should happen to you or nuthin', right, Vito?" "Hur, hur, yeah, boss, das right."
But there is one more group of people who quite voluntarily construct a story that connects Christianity to a problem they have... a slightly different problem.
These are people who have behaved badly, and want other people to forgive them.
That's other people.
Not god.
And they're hoping you will confuse the two.
See, if I understand my Christian theology, Christ promises forgiveness of whatever to anyone who sincerely repents. So by making a public show of contrition, and talking about Jesus a lot, a certain kind of person hopes you will confuse Christ having promised to forgive her — which might or might not be happening — with you having promised to forgive her — which you definitely didn't.
The fundamental flaw in this line of thinking is twofold.
First of all, there is nothing in the idea of god's forgiveness that requires us to forgive also. If there was, then god would be withholding justice from victims. Whether restitution is owed to god or not, it is definitely owed to the people they have harmed. And if it has not been made, or cannot be made, it is up to those harmed to decide whether or not to forgive the debt.
Secondly, when someone does something wrong, harm is not the only issue. In fact, often it isn't even the major issue, because only certain people are harmed.
But everyone finds out what kind of person she is.
Isa Casa-whatever-the-fuck-her-StarWars-name-is didn't harm me by gloating over Charlie Kirk's death. My feelings are not that easily hurt, and I don't care what bloodthirsty communists think. I don't need to examine her feelings before starting up the helicopter. And I'm sure many of you feel the same.
What matters, in our case, is that we found out she is the sort of person who will gloat and jeer over the death of one of the most peaceful, patient, and forgiving men I know of, merely for disagreeing with her retarded teenage political opinions.
What we found out about her doesn't go away because she said sorry.
The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior, which means what she is most likely to do is spit more malice, then ask forgiveness again when faced with the prospect of consequences.
I don't want people like that in my country.

It’s even worse than Anish notes here because boys make up 61% of the top SAT scores. So despite that fact and the fact that men apply about 2x as often to MIT; @MIT admits more women every year than men. It’s impossible for this to be merit based. Just mathematically impossible.
17,000 men apply to MIT
8900 women apply to MIT
600 men were accepted
612 women were accepted
If we assume male and female applicants to MIT are roughly the same, the probability this happens by chance, let alone every year for a while
The probability of a sex blind admission process creating this result is 1 in 4 × 10³¹

Our education system barely focuses on the Founding Fathers because if people simply read what they wrote, it would be radicalizing.
Many of the top issues in modern America were already thought of, argued, and solved by men much greater than the middle-aged women with bob cuts we have today.

I can empathise with this take but it seems to me a very 1990s reading. Picard wouldn't really fit the progressive mould today.
Let's remember that he grew up on a family vineyard that had been in the Picard line for generations, run the old way by a family who saw replicators and other modern conveniences as a threat to something worth keeping. That same man later returned to the estate after leaving Starfleet. The tastes he carried with him - Shakespeare, archaeology, a clear preference for the deep past - don't sit easily with a politics that treats tradition as something to get past. His great leadership happened inside Starfleet's rank structure and chain of command.
More importantly, it took place in a post-socialist society that had already solved material scarcity; a post-scarcity future that owed its abundance to earlier capitalist innovation, scientific discovery, and risk-taking. What remained was the work of self-improvement. That combination looks less like progressive politics and more like an older idea of ordered life sustained by inheritance, hierarchy, and the cultivation of character.
Even the milder progressive of the 1990s would have trouble claiming Picard now. A contemporary progressive would read his authority as white male privilege exercised inside a hierarchical military that expands under the name of exploration. Today's self-righteous Jacobins would treat the Federation itself as a form of soft imperialism that absorbs other cultures while calling the process enlightenment.
The family vineyard would be inherited wealth and settler privilege; Shakespeare and archaeology would be the Western canon and colonial grave-robbing. The defence of Lt. Data as a new sentient life form would be dismissed as individualist rights talk that ignores structural power. Add the absence of identity-based solidarity, the human-centred Prime Directive that still ranks other species, and the quiet Eurocentrism of a French captain quoting dead white men on the bridge, and Picard would not be celebrated. He would be cancelled.
This is why both old-school liberals and conservatives could still enjoy 1990s Star Trek. They disagreed about secularism and rationalist visions of society, yet they shared enough ground on duty, hierarchy, inheritance, and the cultivation of character to recognise something of themselves in Picard. The newer Jacobin progressives share almost none of that ground. The distance between the liberalism of that era and the progressivism of this one is, in the end, as wide as a galaxy.

The Founding Fathers decided to make DC *not* a state very much on purpose…
It wasn’t an accident. You just don’t know our own nation’s Constitution. They wanted the seat of Government to be independent from any one state’s control. Try reading Federalist 43. George Washington surveyed the land for the federal district himself.

Nou pa gen okenn enterè ni pou nou vin domine pèp ayisyen an, ni pou nou mete men sou richès Ayiti.
Nou se yon peyi modès k ap devlope. Sèl sa nou vle, se pou kat teknisyen avyasyon nou yo tounen lakay yo. Epi n ap bay gang yo yon leson, gang sa yo k ap fè pèp ayisyen an soufri, ki touye moun pèp la renmen yo, k ap anpeche l viv yon lavi nòmal, lib, san laperèz.
Nou vin ann Ayiti pou nou goumen kont mechan yo.
Men sa m ap mande nou: fè nou konfyans, lapriyè sèl vrè Bondye a, epi mande L pou L geri Ayiti.
“Lè sa a si pèp ki pote non m lan lapriyè nan pye m, si yo soumèt devan mwen, si yo pran chache m ankò, si yo vire do bay vye peche yo t'ap fè yo, m'ap tande yo nan syèl kote m ye a, m'ap padonnen peche yo, m'ap fè peyi a kanpe ankò.”
2 Kwonik 7:14
Ede nou ede Ayiti.
Epi lè misyon nou an fini, n ap tounen lakay nou. Petèt jenerasyon Ayisyen k ap vini yo ap sonje nou kòm zanmi ki te vin ede yon lè.

So, basically, 500 million Europeans expect 300 million Americans to protect them from 120 million Russians who can’t even defeat 40 million Ukrainians while those 500 million Europeans don’t even realize they are being conquered by 2 billion Muslims who claim they are being persecuted by 8 million Israelis. Is that about right?

Great video. The scumbag steals the apartment using laws the Democrats put in place around squatters rights, and then intimidates good people using a court system rotted by leftists.
This is real, and happens to thousands of people.

There is an important reason that the right never wins the culture war overall, despite the left being so poor at tactics that they often end up shooting their own feet.
That is the reality that logistics are more important than tactics, and tactics only matter once you have sorted logistics out.
The left has sorted logistics out by creating patronage networks, while the right refuses to do so because it's still controlled by a curious kind of boomer paleoliberal who thinks that "free market" means "everything should pay for itself".
Thus, both the cultural and political struggles of the right must be waged by broke young men as a side project to their careers, while fighting for the left is a career.
The young men fighting for the right are simply expected to purchase their own rifles, ammunition, uniforms and kit, provide their own transport to the front, then organize themselves into units to defeat the communists.
If you understand this, then you will understand why the retards manage to win a lot despite being retards.
The left is giving people 100K fellowships for writing lesbian novels, while the right is charging its own guys $200 to listen to some theoretical ramblings about the antichrist.
No, that's not a metaphor. I wish I had made either of those two facts up as some sort of hyperbole.
Only the left understands how to get and use political power.
The left understands that power is a form of currency. So if you want it, you have to buy it, with some other form of currency. Such as money.
The right thinks that political power is a side effect... something that you naturally accumulate while doing business.
Possibly this is because most wealthy right-wing people are investors. They start a project, or put money into it, and they expect to get their money back and then some. That's what they are used to.
That's how investment works.
But that's not how power works.
And if you have wealth, but no power, then the people with power will just take whatever you built.
I don't know exactly what the tech right, the business right, the wealthy right, should be spending on political power. But what they are spending is clearly not enough and in the wrong places.
Because George Soros sure as hell isn't selling people tickets to listen to him talk.
