70 years ago (May 6, 1953), Dr. John Gibbon used a heart-lung machine for the first time on an 18-year-old female ASD patient. A well-prepared giant achievement and the very begin of modern cardiac surgery! It also may remind us to foster innovation and allow disruptive ideas.
