One thing I love about Black San Francisco is that we will NEVER give up on the Fillmore District, and continue to build there. We've lost a lot of fabulous restaurants over the years... Gussie's Chicken and Waffles, Isla Vida, Black Bark BBQ, and my personal favorite, 1300 on Fillmore. Still, Sheba Piano Lounge stands strong, but we need more options and opportunities!
Chef Fernay McPherson has come a long way from being a caterer to owning a food truck, working a pop-up in the Ferry Building, and now having her very own restaurant at 1375 Fillmore. This is her homecoming, and I'm proud of her! Black-owned businesses deserve a chance to thrive in the 'Mo. Support her! kqed.org/arts/13956178/minni…

With my mother. Daddy’s funeral.
He wasn’t assassinated because he wanted his children to be judged “by the content of their character.”
But for dismantling racism, poverty & militarism.
He wanted corrective measures to eradicate racism, not the delusion that it doesn’t exist.
