this is bait right
When I moved here in 2013 the west village was for 90 year olds, celebrities, and fifth generation New Yorkers. It was super quiet and was the perfect place to get totally blazed and walk around alone feeling like you were in some gas lamp lit 1800s spooky New York. I’ll never forgive people for making it influencer line culture hell.

My father suffers from PTSD as a result of his time as a 9/11 first responder. Last year while laying in the hospital after an attempt drink himself to death, he told me about a funny thing that happened at Ground Zero. His story inspired a year-long hunt for a lost piece of art. I wrote about it for @vulture edited by @megh_wright vulture.com/article/a-funny-…

It’s quite telling that 17/22 asked to participate in this article about the financial realities of independent filmmaking declined to participate.

speaking as the editor of this post, if you're an editor writing great headlines and not an editor shooting the shit with writers about puns for a half hour until someone farts out something genius, you're not doing it right
There are days when I miss being an editor and I particularly loved writing headlines. Whoever did this, I hope they took the rest of the day off.

three days after I got this assigned (about a musician I love, done by a writer I admire), I experienced a sudden, unexpected, and very close death in my life, so having this piece to work on was kind of like having a grief guide to hang out with :) vulture.com/article/ben-kwel…
