25 OCTOBER - BALACLAVA DAY: THE THIN RED LINE 🇬🇧🏴
On this day in 1854, the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders stood firm against advancing Russian cavalry at Balaclava, Crimea. Outnumbered and exposed, these Scottish soldiers held their nerve in one of the most celebrated acts of courage in British military history.
Their commander, Sir Colin Campbell, gave the immortal order:
⚔️ “There is no retreat from here, men. You must die where you stand!”
Sir Colin's aide John Scott is said to have replied, "Aye, Sir Colin. If needs be, we'll do that."
Their disciplined volleys broke the Russian advance, protecting the British base at Balaclava.
War correspondent William Howard Russell described the sight as a “thin red streak tipped with a line of steel” - giving birth to the legendary name, The Thin Red Line.
Today, we honour the courage, discipline, and sacrifice of those soldiers whose actions became part of our shared British military heritage.
Remember the 93rd. Remember Balaclava. Remember the Thin Red Line.
Scotland’s courage. Britain’s history.
Never forgotten.

An oldie but a goodie. In 1968 a bunch of entitled hippy bastards sent a letter detailing their specious demands to the Warden and Fellows of Wadham College, Oxford. This was their letter of reply, which speaks to how far the academy has since fallen.

Imagine how much hate crime posts this councillor must have received simply for having a 15-year-old boy arrested for mocking him.
What's the country coming to when you can't have boys who slightly mock you on the internet thrown into prison?
The coward @CllrSimonB has closed his X account.
Don’t call his office (07973 665277), nor email him ([email protected]) to say how much you despise this POS.
Oh, btw. His civic correspondence address is c/o Civic Centre, St. Peter’s Square, Wolverhampton, WV1 1RG.
Have fun.

Perfect description of the post-2010s progressive strain that prioritises identity hierarchies (intersectionality), systemic oppression narratives, DEI equity of outcomes, gender self-identification over biological sex, and institutional speech codes.
Not good, kind hearted people.
Forget ‘suicidal empathy’ – woke Westerners have *homicidal* empathy. Those who revel in Hamas’s anti-Semitic terror or who want to import infinity misogynists to Britain are not kind, good-hearted people. It’s sadistic, writes Julie Burchill

Theo strikes again.
It's almost as though he gets some kind of perverted pleasure from making women feel uncomfortable...
If this was your Mum, sister or daughter you would do the same as the husband facing the situation of a male Doctor pretending to be female for intimate personal treatment of his wife. This situation is upsetting and alarming. 2+2 =4 ‼️#sexmatters

Owen Jones came on Triggernometry. After being given lots of speaking time, he was asked a few probing questions and immediately turned the conversation into a gotcha style debate. This naturally resulted in him being destroyed with facts and lots of people on the internet laughing at him.
Now he is so butthurt, he spends his days posting videos no one watches about how he was right about everything. While having me and Francis blocked.
Loser energy.

As far as I can tell the case for Indy in 2026 appears to be:
- a memo written by a civil servant in 1974.
- anyone in 2014 saying fossil fuel is a finite resource was lying.
But it is a progressive cause. Ok.
John Swinney's in India.
Telling them that he wants Scotland to be in the EU whilst simultaneously saying he welcomes the UK free trade agreement with India.
You can't have a free trade agreement with India John if you are in the EU!

The co-leader of the Scottish Greens believes “Zionism is racism”
She also believes Jews “absolutely should have the right to have somewhere to be”.
Which makes her a Zionist.
And, according to her, a racist.
These people are nuts.

On 25 March 1983, the Chief Prison Officer at Portlaoise prison Brian Stack left a boxing match at the National Stadium in Dublin. His job involved him supervising the fortress that held the IRA's most dangerous prisoners. As he left boxing that night a gunman shot him in the neck. Stack survived but was paralysed, and lingered for 18 months before dying in September 1984, aged 49. He left behind his widow Sheila and three sons.
Three separate Garda investigations produced no charge and no conviction. In 2013, thirty years on, the Provisional IRA finally admitted responsibility. It met with Stacks sons and said the killing was unauthorised, a product of a brutal prison regime. Still no name was offered.
His son Austin refused to let it rest. He followed his father into the prison service and spent decades pressing for answers. He sat face to face with Gerry Adams and on another occasion was driven in a blacked-out van to meet the IRA. Last year he published his account, Justice for My Father.
The cracks in the official story kept widening. In 2019, Garda Commissioner Drew Harris apologised for failings in the case. An internal review had found 194 errors and omissions in the first investigation alone. Key evidence went missing and has never been explained. Last year, with a file sitting with the DPP, gardaí told the family they were following fresh lines of inquiry.
Today Taoiseach Micheál Martin is due to stand in the Dáil and apologise on behalf of the State for the failings in all three investigations.
