Today, Brad Lander, rabbis, and other New Yorkers accompanied Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest. For that, they were detained by the Israeli government.
Harvesting olives is not illegal. The occupation is.
I am thankful that Brad has been released. But other New Yorkers remain detained, and they must be released immediately.
The same Israeli government detaining them has committed a horrific genocide against Palestinians, killing more than 74,000 people over the last few years alone.
The detention of these New Yorkers must end. The occupation must end. The genocide must end.

Israeli settlers are out of control, because the Israeli government allows them to be. And while attacks on diplomats or journalists command attention, as they should, this happens unnoticed to Palestinian farmers all the time.
#Breaking: European diplomats, including French and Polish representatives, who went to the West Bank to observe the olive harvest, have been violently assaulted by Israeli settlers.
Not saying I’m #1 but the card says otherwise.

Comptroller you should divest from the Israeli equities too. So far this year:
Israeli equities: 6.86% return
S&P 500: 12.63% return
The economic relationship between New York City and Israel is deeply important, bringing substantial investment into our city and generating strong returns for our pension funds.
Our funds invest around the world, including more than $285 million in Israel, primarily in equities. Israel remains one of the world’s most dynamic and innovative economies, and those holdings remain an important part of our portfolio. They also make clear that New York City’s pension funds are not engaging in BDS.
I expressed my deep appreciation for the Israel-NYC economic relationship during my campaign for comptroller, and that appreciation remains unchanged. I also pledged to make every investment decision free of politics, based solely on its financial merits and my fiduciary responsibility to 750,000 current and future retirees.
We apply those same principles to Israel Bonds. At present, a number of challenges, including constraints related to a rules change on our short-term investment desk made by the previous comptroller, prevent us from making direct purchases. We continue to evaluate this investment, as we do all potential investments.
Anyone suggesting that this means I am giving up on Israel is trying to turn the ordinary rebalancing and management of a pension portfolio into a political issue. That is simply not the case. Our commitment to investing in Israel remains clear in the hundreds of millions of dollars in Israeli equities that our pension funds continue to hold.
Like many Jewish New Yorkers, my deep personal connection to Israel is a part of who I am. It will not change. As New York City comptroller, I also have a solemn duty to safeguard our city’s pension funds, and I will not shirk that responsibility. I will continue to honor both commitments with integrity.

The ADL has once again accused a Nobel peace prize winner of antisemitism. Previous peace prize winners accused of antisemitism by the ADL: Jimmy Carter, Desmond Tutu, and Amnesty International. Weaponizing charges of antisemitism against human rights advocates, specifically against those who condemn Israel for violating Palestinian rights, undermines the fight against antisemitism.
In awarding the Peace Prize to Navi Pillay, the Nobel Committee rewards a record of legitimizing of demonizing Jews, Israelis and championing antizionism.
As chair of the UN Commission of Inquiry, Pillay drove the unsubstantiated "genocide" charge against Israel that has become a rallying cry for antisemites worldwide. She has previously accused Jews and Israel of having "ganged up" to distort the history of the Durban conference, defended a fellow COI commissioner's "Jewish lobby" remarks, and championed the Durban process that mainstreamed anti-Zionist antisemitism inside the UN.
Learning of this award in Nuremberg and using the moment to double down on the genocide claim is a betrayal of "never again." The Nobel Committee has handed its most prestigious honor to someone who has repeatedly given cover to antisemitic narratives. That is not peace. That is normalization of hate. cnn.com/2026/10/09/world/liv…
This is really incredible. I love @ossoff debates. My favorite lines were years ago when he said "you're not just a crook" and "you shouldn't do everything your handlers in Washington DC tell you to do".
But Ossoff has 0 chance of becoming President.

John, habibi. I guess you didn’t see his face after the debate. He looked like you did when you lost the 2020 election, utterly defeated.
Did he call you afterward and beg you to tweet this? Did he beg you to come save him in Michigan?
You’re welcome to remind everyone how sad you both are together. Stale, weak, pathetic.
I’ll be talking about gas, groceries, and healthcare. The things you broke—that we’ll have to fix.
U.S. President Donald Trump;
"Mike Rogers, the great American Patriot and Republican Candidate for the U.S.Senate from Michigan, completely obliterated Mohammad El-Sayed in the big debate tonight. If this was a fight they would have stopped it. Mohammad is a Jihadist lunatic who hates our Country, the Black People of Detroit, and wants to see the U.S. fail. Short on Stature, Patriotism, and Truth, Mohammed’s statements have been loaded up with lies and deceit. I won Michigan BIG, and know that Mike Rogers, a total winner, is the man for you!!! President DJT".

This day is profoundly painful for so many New Yorkers. It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss.
The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians—including more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing. Many New Yorkers are reckoning with this unbearable grief, and we mourn alongside them – all while knowing that our tax dollars fund these war crimes.
Three years later, we must refuse to accept a world in which occupation and apartheid continue, where war crimes are met with impunity, and our federal government continues its complicity with every arms shipment.
To honor the dead, we must fight for a world in which every person can live with freedom, safety, and dignity.

For more than two months, I have been working on a truly horrific story about one of the gravest war crimes committed by the United States since Vietnam: The bombing of the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab, Iran. It was one of the first targets struck in the opening hours of the war on February 28, 2026.
At least 156 people were killed in the U.S. cruise missile strikes—120 of them were children and 26 were teachers. We spoke to survivors, first responders, parents, doctors, teachers, psychologists, and other witnesses. Some of them had never before shared their experiences of that day.
It would be impossible to do justice to what happened in Minab that day with words alone. In more than 25 years in journalism and reporting on war, I do not believe I have reported on a more heinous single crime.

One of the saddest parts of capitalism is walking past some magnificent old building in DC, Boston, or NYC.
It looks like it was built by an architect who studied for 50 years before designing a single thing - a real Howard Roark. You can imagine Charles Sumner or Teddy Roosevelt walking through those doors to do business or have a drink.
Every column, window, and piece of stonework was made with an almost absurd amount of care and attention to detail.
And now it’s a CVS or Apple Store.
