🇺🇦 🇺🇲 The confrontation inside Trump's Ukraine peace negotiations is now coming into focus.
Le Monde reports that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner spent nearly three hours pitching Ukraine's presidential chief of staff, Kyrylo Budanov, a postwar economic arrangement built around restoring Russian oil and gas flows to Europe through Ukrainian pipelines.
The meeting took place on October 9 at the Shell Bay golf club in Florida.
Witkoff presented the proposal as a regional prosperity plan: Ukraine would collect transit revenues, Europe would receive cheaper energy, and Russia would regain access to commercial routes disrupted by the war.
Budanov saw something fundamentally different. According to a witness cited by Le Monde, he objected that the arrangement would recreate Ukraine's dependence on Moscow.
“Our model is not Belarus, but Poland!” he reportedly replied.
The meeting was interrupted, and Budanov called Zelensky.
When talks resumed, news arrived that Trump had announced a separate agreement with Putin involving Russian diesel. Le Monde reports that an irritated Witkoff then demanded that the Ukrainians accept the arrangement and stop striking Russian oil refineries, arguing that the attacks endangered the wider world.
A source familiar with the Ukrainian delegation described its members as exceptionally distressed by the encounter.
The account adds a revealing dimension to the commercial negotiations we have been tracking. The proposed Lukoil asset sale, Novatek's involvement in an Alaska LNG venture, the broader US-Russia list of business opportunities reported by the Financial Times, and now the proposed restoration of Russian energy transit through Ukraine all point to the prominence of energy deals in Washington's diplomatic approach.
These are separate proposals, with different participants and legal circumstances. But Le Monde's reporting exposes the strategic disagreement underlying them.
For Witkoff, restoring commercial flows appears to be part of the mechanism for producing a peace settlement. For Budanov, according to the account, those same flows threaten to restore Moscow's economic leverage over Ukraine.
The reported exchange also raises a question about sequencing: why was Kyiv being pressed to stop attacking Russian refineries while Russia continued striking Ukrainian energy infrastructure?
Le Monde's reconstruction relies on accounts of a private meeting. The reported exchanges have not been independently confirmed by the participants.

Russia is preparing for war in Europe, and they continue to be issued visas.
Spanish police have arrested a former Russian soldier after discovering an illegal weapons operation in Catalonia, near the French border.
Investigators uncovered a concealed workshop inside a rented warehouse in Figueres, approximately 25 kilometers from France. The facility contained 644 firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, silencers and weapons components.
The seized arsenal is estimated to be worth €5 million.

🚨Russia’s Tupolev produces the TU-160 in part from aluminium supplied by ASK aluminium - the company which imports alumina from Aughinish in Ireland
They appear to have suffered challenges early on in the war with supply but are now overcoming them. We wonder, is this owing to increased supply of alumina to Russia from Aughinish.
AI/Old pictures aside ( nice catch @DefenceGeek )
The Tu-160 is produced at the "KAZAN AVIATION PLANT" which sourced its aluminum from ASK who bought it from RUSAL smelters that Aughinish Alumina supply to.

Estonian owned KLAUDIA of Hansa shipping is about to slip her lines from a stormy Aughinish Pier
She is carrying approx 7801 tonnes of Alumina and is the 65th such shipment since NAFO commenced a permanent obvs on 14 March. This surpasses the Half Million tonne mark since this date‼️
She is also the second shipment since the EU’s sanction envoy confirmed that the alumina from Aughinish “undoubtedly” supplies the Russian Army (Irish Times). #Alumina22

BREAKING NEWS: Romania’s domestic intelligence service (SRI) and the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) attribute last month’s fire at the Carfil factory to an act of sabotage carried out by the Russian Federation.
Carfil Brașov is an arms manufacturing facility. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first case of sabotage publicly attributed to the Russian Federation in Romania.

Seventy years ago, Europe and the entire world faced a very important and, in many ways, decisive crossroads, when the people of Hungary rose up for freedom and against the Soviet system. The courage and love of freedom shown by Hungarians proved remarkably strong, and they still amaze all of us in Europe.
Unfortunately, the world did not make the strong decisions needed to help them at that time. This led to further decades of totalitarian rule across much of Europe, which ended only with the revolutions of the 1980s.
The year 1956 could have changed a great deal. This lesson now gives us grounds to say with absolute certainty: when people show courage and love of freedom, it is worth supporting. It deserves support everywhere in the world, so that freedom grows.
I thank everyone who remembers history, honors people's courage and love of freedom, and does not shy away from decisions when decisions are needed. We honor the heroes of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956!

LMAO! Obama demolishes the joke of a defense secretary known as Pete Hegseth.
“7 months later, how is that war going? Americans have been killed. Hundreds of Americans have been wounded, we have run down our stock, and Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, you've got the defense secretary who's squarely focused on the jawlines and testosterone levels of our troops. How much time do you think this Defense Secretary spends looking at himself in the mirror in the morning?”
Pete Hegseth is a disgrace and should be fired immediately.

‼️Since our campaign started monitoring alumina shipments to Russia on 14 March last, we can now confirm that Ireland has exported 500,000 tonnes of alumina to russia.
This is enough to smelt a quarter of a million tonnes of aluminium - the foundational metal of war.
And look what the Irish Times reported the EU sanctions envoy as saying this week:

what the hell man, how f*cking corrupt do you need to be that the CEO of an energy company's like "nah, too corrupt for me, I'm out"
A wild story: the CEO of a US energy company whose plans were discussed during the Witkoff-Kushner-Putin negotiations resigns. Why? He learned that his company's main investor is a sanctioned Russian company, not the UAE
