BC Conservative leader Lorne Doerkson has vowed to repeal SOGI, calling it a “lightning rod for division.”

Rustad’s policies would be a disaster for public education. You can’t simply ban a recommended resource. What would it be replaced with? Rustad is avoiding any details about his plans, hoping no one will notice. #bced #bcpoli

THIS should be an election issue. All kids deserve consistency and the chance to build trusting relationships with their teachers so they can succeed. This can be lost when teachers are shuffled around to fill gaps. 2/4

It’s almost October and the Langley School District alone still has 18 classrooms without dedicated teachers. Concerned parents have launched a petition to solve the teacher shortage across BC.👇 #bced #bcpoli #BCElection2024 #ITeachIVote 1/4 globalnews.ca/video/10775575…

The numbers from the Ministry do not show the full scale of the issue because many SDs have people teaching in classrooms that don’t have LOPs. Paperwork is not always followed through on. In some places of BC it’s normal not to have certified teachers. Is this really okay?#bced
The Ministry’s own figures show a spike in uncertified teachers — just one small measure of the staff shortage. These figures don’t capture other impacts on students, like the loss services and programs when teachers are shuffled to cover absences.

BCTF President @ClintJohnston7 is raising questions about the impact of teacher shortages on student services: "Are they going to be available, are the students who need some extra support going to get it?" #bced #bcpoli

.@ClintJohnston7 says parents deserve answers to Qs like, "Is this the teacher my child’s going to have all year? ... Is there a teacher for my child’s class, or is it someone who’s backfilling just for a little while? And, sometimes ... is this teacher certified?” #bcpoli #bced
A shortage of certified teachers in the province is reaching critical levels, according to the BC Teachers' Federation.

I agree with this columnist's call for a plan to be put in place to ensure #bced has enough certified teachers. We have a big problem folks, especially in rural areas but we are now seeing the teacher shortage impact more districts & larger districts. 1/4 cowichanvalleycitizen.com/op…
