Such behaviour cannot be reversed by external measures (whether social restraint or government action). It can change only when our collective worldview becomes Hindu. That is the difficult part for everyone. Centuries of poverty have conditioned our minds to crave the recognition that money can purchase. Worldview transformation remains the hardest task. There is no natural motivation or lasting trigger that would make people pause, reflect, and alter their course. The pandemic was temporary jolt. The larger momentum is towards the other side.
