Having any mental condition and not practicing gratitude is like not having muscle and skipping the gym. Let's say that you struggle with anxiety for example. Then, when you consciously focus on gratitude, prefrontal cortex activity acts like a volume knob, directly downregulating and calming the overactive amygdala. And because your brain has limited processing resources, it struggles to heavily stimulate the prefrontal cortex (appreciation) while simultaneously keeping the amygdala in a state of high alert (fear). Basically, gratitude overrides anxiety. fitandball.gumroad.com/l/bra…

severe depression reversed in under 7 days when patients took 125-300 mg of magnesium glycinate with meals and at bedtime.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The studies in the post do not support the claim. The 2006 paper presents case histories (not a controlled trial) using magnesium glycinate and taurinate; the 2017 trial used magnesium chloride over 6 weeks for mild-to-moderate depression. gwern.net/doc/nootropic/… pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC54… pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10…

I love hot baths! I will live forever
Heating tumors shrinks them, improves cancer survival by ~50% in trial. Possibly insane twitter recommendations run in cycles. Then: Nicotine is great for you! Now: Actually...
After being off nicotine… I think nicotine is not good for us gang

I slept none on the flight from Honolulu to Atlanta. I have one more (short) flight left. I hope to sleep a little on that one.

Train your mind to think everything is happening in your favor.
It took me 29 years to realize that the cheat code to life is just having delusional confidence.

Most people think aspirin is for headaches. Ray Peat treated it like a hormone. So I took 4g a day for 2 weeks and ran full bloodwork before and after. > Ferritin: 272 → 186 > Cortisol: 437 → 374 > TSH: 2.51 → 0.97, the lowest I’ve ever had > hsCRP: 1.2 → 0.6 > GGT: 34 → 23 > Triglycerides: 185 → 129 Here’s the chain. Aspirin shuts down prostaglandins. Fewer prostaglandins, less signal telling your brain to make cortisol. Salicylate pulls T3 off its carrier protein, so more of it gets into your cells. And it binds free iron, so less of it sits around making free radicals. One cheap pill hit stress, thyroid, iron and inflammation at the same time.

Crazy things have happened every single day for the entire history of mankind. The only difference is this is the first time in history you have an engagement-based feed shoving them all in your face 24/7. There are 7 billion-plus people in this world, 5 billion of whom have cell phone cameras. The world is crazy. You are not supposed to, nor should you, expose yourself to every morbid event going on in this world. The people that promulgate these events are incentivized to do so via ad revenue, engagement, etc. I'm all for keeping an ear to the ground and staying aware of what's going on in this world, but youve got to differentiate between signal and bait.

cant make this shit up tonight I opened X, saw a plane hit the ground at 200000 mph, a detroit lions players get horribly injured, an old video of the tsunami destroying japan, a cop get shot, and a post about cancer in <<<< 5 minutes (not an exaggeration). immediately got sad. will be ruminating for a while. love this app. love what social media offers the world. but holy shit if you dont think sitting on these apps all day can negatively impact your mood then youve really gotta take a look in the mirror.
