Everyone wants senior engineers. Nobody wants to create them.
Even if you remove dating from the equation, people will get MAD at you just for being organically social. They'll go on a rant online because you said Hi when you passed them in the park. Absolute brain damage.
Dating apps are among the worst modern innovations because they don't actually connect people. Young people have no idea how attraction actually works. The magic is gone, as is the fact that human beings don't actually connect primarily for superficial reasons. People now assume this is how they are too "meet," so don't bother going out into the world and moving about in approachable, social ways xitter.cf/FischerKing64/status/2…
My best friend told me many years ago moving out was stupid. "You have a house," he said. "Why leave just to start everything over from scratch? You would do better to buy the house off your mother and let her live with you." Best life advice I had ever been given.
What is it about being a business owner that makes a person feel the need to be insufferable?

That’s a really convenient excuse for not doing anything with your life or taking responsibility for yourself or the fact that you can’t make a living and support yourself. Sad.

If you spend the whole day doing stuff you actually want to do & talking to people that you are fond of, and then you finally open this app at the end of that day, you can see very plainly that this place is not real at all and maybe it should probably be avoided. Then you forget

The older I get, the more I realize composure is a form of intelligence. When everyone else is reacting, the person who can slow down, observe clearly, and reason from reality has an enormous advantage.
I don't want to revisit it. I do wish my peers and I could experience today and the future as those younger people we once were. And I do wish we could have back the friends we've lost along the way.
I caught my iPad in the act finally. I'm hitting I and it's typing U. I hit it a few more times and U kept popping up beside my finger, which was on I. Unreal.
Working with line cooks is all the proof I need that everything wives complain about is true. If I lived with any of these men I'd take a bridge.
Everything he says makes sense, but I'd still rather deal with chaingunners than the flaming whack-a-mole that are lost souls.
The best monster in Doom 2 is the chaingunner.
He is weak. Two shotgun blasts and poof. But he's the most dangerous thing I can put on a ledge. Unlike every demon, he hurts you AT ANY DISTANCE. You can't sidestep it. He just sucks down your health.
If he's far enough away, you can't even hear him shooting at you. You just go toddling around the level while every once in a while one of his shots hits and you go "ugh". It might take you a while to figure it out, because with shot spread, not all his bullets hit you so it's only every second or so.
Also, unlike a demon, his shots don't point back at him. If an imp hurls a fireball from a hundred yards off, you might not hear him, but the fireball always misses (because you've moved) and you see it splash nearby, giving you the imp's direction & altitude.
Put a chaingun on a balcony and the whole room changes. Put him far across an open level and the whole level changes. He makes you stop looking at the floor. He is a design tool worth as much as a whole new boss monster.
I'd take a chaingunner over a dozen imps.
