The people having the hardest time finding jobs right now are entry to mid-level. If you're hired as a marketer, you now need advertising, social content, SEO, generative engine optimization, branding and more. Lab Notes 04.

There's an emerging set of people that get way more out of the models than the rest of us.
They say that software is trivially replicable, but not the software these founders are building and certainly not the way in which they're building it.
Jacob is living in the future and worth paying close attention to.
My CTO said there's no need for a developer in the loop for reviewing code, because of how we work. The agent writes the code, and the reviewers are more like button pushers. When they do more, they slow it down and add little value. Lab Notes 04.

When you look at the in-house models OpenAI and Anthropic have, it's quite clear they're far ahead of what we have. One of OpenAI's new results came four or five days after the Millennium problem they released over a month ago. Lab Notes 04.

Anthropic released new cancer work this week. I've seen how slowly traditional drug methods move by comparison. With what we know these models can do, we could go dramatically faster at developing these solutions. Lab Notes 04.

I interviewed an engineer last week who had never directly coded with AI. They're a student, and they don't have $200 a month for a subscription. A lot of people don't. I also worry that not having it is a disadvantage. Lab Notes 04.

I don't see AI as manufactured. I see it as a biological system, because it's a part of nature. A biological system created another system that we call AI. I would argue that AI and our systems are probably far closer related than we realize. Lab Notes 03.

Google's AI Mode ads now follow the conversation.
On Oct 28 Google launched multiturn ads in the U.S. and added Gemini-written "AI explainers" next to ads, drawn partly from your website. Advertisers can't write, edit, approve, or opt out of them.
Google also says buying ads doesn't influence organic AI answers. So even if you never buy an ad, what your site says now shapes how Google describes you.

OpenAI just doubled the Pro limits. My CTO, Bo Wang, ran the same coding skill on two models: GPT-6.1 Sol took about 5 hours and $60 to $90 a run, GPT-6 Astra about 30 minutes and $16 to $20. Full video: youtube.com/watch?v=-lTqajB4…

Most of what AI cites about your business isn't on your website.
Muck Rack's What Is AI Reading? (Oct 28): 84%+ of AI citations came from earned and third-party sources. Paid/advertorial: 0.3%. Owned pages: 15.2%.
Your site still has a job: product pages and practical guides get cited for product and how-to questions. It just isn't the whole job.

1/ monday: chatgpt narrows to site:theofficialsource.com. before that, it's already searching names you never typed
4/ vendor study, comparison prompts, not local, correlation. still. if the model's never heard of you, being on the page isn't the whole job
