🏈 COAST FOOTBALL TOP 10 — AFTER WEEK 4 Week 4 brought the first change at the top of the Coast Football Power Index, a new team into the Top 10 and several teams beginning to close the gap. The Power Index takes into account wins and losses, strength of schedule, quality of opponent, scoring margin, home/road performance, overall résumé and the voters. Here is the Coast Football Top 10 after Week 4: 1. D’IBERVILLE — 100.0 ⬆️ 1 The Warriors take over the No. 1 spot after improving to 4-0 with an impressive 24-0 road shutout of Pascagoula. D’Iberville entered Week 4 only 0.2 points behind Gulfport, so it didn’t take much to change the top spot. Going on the road and shutting out a Coast Top 10 opponent was enough. D’Iberville has now outscored its four opponents 132-33. 2. GULFPORT — 99.6 ⬇️ 1 Gulfport drops one spot, but this is certainly not because of a bad loss. The Admirals went on the road against unbeaten Petal and lost 40-39 in overtime. Gulfport had an opportunity to win against one of the better teams in the state and remains separated from No. 1 by only four-tenths of a point. D’Iberville simply did enough with its road shutout to move past them. 3. POPLARVILLE — 99.5 ➖ The Hornets stay at No. 3 after beating previously unbeaten Pearl River Central 28-21. Poplarville is 4-0 and continues to build one of the strongest résumés on the Coast. PRC gave the Hornets their closest game of the season, but Poplarville found a way to stay perfect. Only 0.1 separates Poplarville and Gulfport. 4. PASS CHRISTIAN — 98.8 ➖ Pass Christian stays at No. 4 after another dominant performance, beating St. Stanislaus 49-14. The Pirates are 4-0 and have scored 192 points through four games. St. Martin made a serious push for this position, but Pass Christian entered the week ahead, both teams won by 35 points in Week 4, and the Pirates continue to hold the edge based on their overall résumé and strength of schedule. 5. ST. MARTIN — 98.5 ➖ St. Martin continues to close the gap. The Yellow Jackets improved to 4-0 with a 49-14 road win at Hancock and have now outscored opponents 185-48. St. Martin has been one of the most dominant teams on the Coast through four weeks. Only three-tenths of a point now separates St. Martin and Pass Christian. 6. PEARL RIVER CENTRAL — 95.7 ➖ PRC stays at No. 6 despite suffering its first loss. The Blue Devils went on the road and battled No. 3 Poplarville before falling 28-21. A seven-point road loss to an unbeaten Top 3 team carries much different weight than a loss to a struggling opponent. PRC’s Power Index drops from 96.5 to 95.7, but neither Gautier nor Picayune did quite enough to pass the Blue Devils. 7. GAUTIER — 94.5 ➖ Gautier improves to 3-1 after a convincing 47-12 win over Moss Point. The Gators have now won three games, with their only loss coming against new No. 1 D’Iberville. Gautier remains No. 7, but the race directly behind PRC has become extremely tight. 8. PICAYUNE — 94.4 ➖ Don’t let the 2-2 record fool you. Picayune has now won back-to-back games on the road, first beating Biloxi 34-31 in overtime and then going to Ocean Springs and winning 38-10. Their two losses came against Gulfport and Jackson Academy, so strength of schedule matters here. Picayune is now only one-tenth of a point behind Gautier and is moving quickly. 9. PASCAGOULA — 90.8 ➖ Pascagoula stays at No. 9 despite the 24-0 home loss to D’Iberville. The shutout definitely hurt the Panthers’ Power Index, but the loss came against the new No. 1 team, and there wasn’t another team directly behind Pascagoula that did enough to push the Panthers completely out of the Top 10. Pascagoula is 2-2, but the gap behind them has tightened considerably. 10. WEST HARRISON — 90.2 ⬆️ 6 Welcome to the Top 10. West Harrison makes the biggest move of the week, climbing six spots from No. 16 to No. 10 after going on the road and beating Laurel 61-41. The Hurricanes are now 2-2, with their two losses coming against Poplarville and Gautier. West Harrison’s résumé looks considerably stronger after four weeks, and the 61-point performance at Laurel was enough to push the Hurricanes into the Top 10. ⬆️ IN: West Harrison — No. 16 to No. 10 ⬇️ OUT: Biloxi — No. 10 to No. 16 The Top 10 is beginning to tighten up. Only 0.5 points separate No. 1 D’Iberville, No. 2 Gulfport and No. 3 Poplarville, while just 0.1 separates Gautier and Picayune at No. 7 and No. 8. And with region play approaching, these numbers are about to get tested head-to-head. #CoastFootball #CoastTop10 #PowerIndex #FridayNightFootball #StatMan 📣 SPONSORSHIP AVAILABLE Want your business seen by a huge local audience?
