I am deeply saddened by the tragic passing of my friend, Wicknell Chivayo, together with his wife, Lucy Muteke, and the other lives lost in the helicopter crash in Zimbabwe. Their sudden departure is a painful loss to their families, friends and all who knew them.
Wicknell was a dear friend whose warmth touched many people. I will remember him for his friendship, his energy and his deep conviction in the possibilities of our continent.
I convey my deepest condolences to the families of all those who lost their lives, to President Mnangagwa, the people of Zimbabwe and everyone mourning this tragic loss. May God grant Wicknell, Lucy and all those who perished eternal rest.

Who destroyed Kenya's first oil refinery?
In 2009, Kibaki & his VP Kalonzo allowed the sale of 50% of Kenya Petroleum Refineries Limited in Mombasa to Essar Energy of India for $7 million. Essar was to inject $1.2 billion to modernise the refinery. 7 yrs later in 2016, Uhuru administration paid off Essar $5 million to take back the shares of a moribund plant. Why? By 2011, the refinery had ground to a halt due to inefficiency. Essar reapped off Kenyans, did not put in a dime, and worse, did asset stripping!
Not entirely different from the Kenya Railways story. In 2006, Kibaki group's Transcentury Limited set up Rift Valley Railways (RVR), an offshore consortium that took a 25-year concession to revamp Kenya - Uganda Railways. In 2010, Transcentury sold 85% of its interest for nearly $40 million to Egypt's Citadel Capital which pledged to inject $150 million to modernise it. In 2017, Kenya Railways terminated the deal. Citadel ripped off KR through asset stripping, did not put in a dime and failed even to pay concession fees. RVR filed for $2 billion claim in a London court which our GoK won last year.
Sorry folks. Kenya's assets were destroyed by those noisy detractors crying 'holier than thou' from atop the mountain. Read your history!

They will be disappointed. Lamu is an expansive sparsely populated county. The World Heritage Site (1) and Port/SEZ(2) are miles apart.
Replying to @DavidNdii
NGOs are heading to court to stop the project so as to protect the environment and the world heritage sites. They want Lamu the way it was during the era of Zinjanthropus and the early man.
