The meal many people were surprised by is actually Isyo - Kamba term for a boiled mixture of whole grains and pulses (what most people call githeri).
Most people today associate githeri with maize and beans, but whole red sorghum was the primary ancient grain traditionally cooked with cowpeas (nthooko).

IQ tests even in countries you consider high average IQ are recalibrated every year because when people learn, they know things, test become easier. If you don't extend the same exact kind of education to another demographic, you can't use the same test standards to call it.
This myth of IQ needs to end. How can you take a generation that has known war, displacement, poverty and broken education systems, then use their test scores to make sweeping claims about their intelligence? Many don’t even speak English to begin with, yet they are being judged using tests developed in completely different linguistic, educational and cultural environments. You cannot remove history and material conditions from the equation and pretend everyone started from the same line.
Africa has been subjected to Western standards for far too long, from what constitutes development and civilisation to what constitutes intelligence. Who designed the test? Whose language does it use? Whose education system does it assume? And who gets to interpret the results? There is an old African proverb: “Until the lions have their own historians, the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter.” That is the deeper problem here. If we continue allowing others to define the standards by which African societies understand and measure themselves, we should not be surprised when Africa perpetually emerges at the bottom of their rankings.
