the video apparently also says HGSS fixes the "no Johto Pokemon in Johto" problem with the pokewalker and while it's cool they addressed it and I'm glad it was bundled free, a) it's an optional add-on, and you can't judge the full game on that and
I feel like people (on both sides of the argument) misunderstand the issue with the level curve. It's not that the game is insurmountably difficult, it's that it makes the pacing feel really sluggish
it makes Johto (and Kanto) feel smaller. I've seen people get to Clair with a second-stage starter while doing a normal run, and that's...I dunno, weird.
and whatever in the project is Not a Video Game is also true for any video game being streamed. Which doesn't necessarily mean all that much, it's also true that every painting is not it's subject, yet Treachery of Images is still compelling
i mean. yeah. a freelance artist who is probably not going to be hired to make a 20 minute animation, let alone nearly 100 20 minute animations, is probably going to ask for a higher rate
big studios have to spread their money across multiple animators but they're also working on multiple long-term projects at a time. For a freelance animator like this, they're probably doing a handful of very short animations. They gotta balance it out
I mean...I feel like Hoenn is a good example of a middle ground (Electric is limited, but you have a few solid options if you're not using Hoenn-exclusive Pokemon) but I do think that the asymmetry can be overly restrictive, like with Fire types in Sinnoh
like, okay, you could limit the number of Electric types in Hoenn to make people be creative team building for Winona. But...Winona already has a Tropius and an Altaria with Earthquake. You could throw in a fast Pokemon with Drill Run too
