All the slogans, -isms and -ologies of our noblesse de robe (the credentialed, compliance classes) which serve to create and impose a moral user interface onto the world, the underlying source code is always anti-competence.

I once overheard our HR department get angry that likes were hidden on @X because that helped them do layoffs and firings.
I guess I can say it now - so when applicants would apply to the studio, the producer would go through their LinkedIn to see what posts they liked, and if he disagreed with their political/social Like, he'd advocate not to hire them based on their Like.

“Instead of connecting you to superfluous things like skin colour or an author, we are now going to challenge you to plum the depths of your whole person and see if you make out alive. There’s no skin color that will save you from this. Now read.”
My son's junior-year high-school English class finally switched from young-adult fiction about how hard it is to have identity X to Whitman, Dickinson, and other American classics. He told me, "I totally see why these authors have the status they do. They give you so much more to think about and the writing is next-level." The canon, if we can even still use that word, is what it is for a reason. We have to trust that students can see that, and quit feeding them pablum that "reflects their experience," etc.

This Wittgenstein book, his notes during the Great War, offer protean ideas for the “Tractatus” & how inspired he was by Tolstoy’s “The Gospel in Brief.” But most is complaining the “grunts” on the front didn’t understand him. It’s true, they didn’t. goodreads.com/en/book/show/1…

Our Constitution, which is best understood as a debt prospectus, Hamilton’s IPO of 1787, will show why illegal immigration wont stop. We are a bearer bond nation; the goal of govt is creditworthiness I dislike saying more than you disliked hearing that. creditworthy.substack.com/p/…

I’m convinced ATS screen out competence and that is why growth is flat across the west.
81% U.S. candidates were rejected from a job in the past year without ever speaking to anyone at the company, human or AI, per Greenhouse.

It’s funny when a persons eye is looking at their other eye.

If I ever wrote a thinly disguised novel about life among in a mid-upper class suburb, and what women would say about their husbands at the weekly Friday night private cocktail party for the "wives", you might become a misogynist. I almost became one myself.

If you want to find out what will get you cancelled just repeat the things women regularly tell each other out loud as a man.
"Call Her Daddy" host Alex Cooper & actress Sophia Bush: if a woman is questioning whether she can do better than her current husband, "the answer is always yes." "This idea that it's too late or you're too old, or who are you to want more, that's patriarchy. That is crazy."

I remember when people thought putting the “black fist” poster in their storefronts thought it would give them a some sort of looter Passover during BLM in NYC. Didn’t work. Turns out the looters didn’t care.

I like to say “punchable” with a French affectation. “Punch-AB-bles.” Also works for “Lunchable” when you’re having a charcuterie plate.
His ancestors died on the Marne, at Verdun, at Passchendaele and at Dunkirk for this.

Telling someone you are "Sorry" but continuing to do that thing you apologized for really means you're not sorry at all.

Before “Roseanne” John Goodman was best known for his locker room pep talk in “Revenge of the Nerds” where he laments the “jocks” just got their asses whupped by a buncha goddamned nerds and they should do something about it.
John Goodman turned down a cameo in Roseanne Barr's new TV show. 😬 tmz.com/2026/10/20/john-good…

The more I read about Abe Lincoln the more I realize he probably should have divorced his wife.

“The rich declare themselves poor And most of us are not sure If we have too much but we'll take our chances 'Cause God's stopped keeping score” — George Michael, “Praying For Time”
Just a few hours ago, President Trump said in the Oval Office that I should be tried in court because I dared to talk about the corruption coming out of the White House. If I've learned one thing from this past year, it's that you have to push back. I'm not going to be intimidated out of standing up for the rule of law and the country that has given me everything.

I like that “worship” and “warship” are homophones. This concludes my tweet.
