being unteachable is a fundamental flaw. it is the same flaw we loathed in our parents, as teenagers, for insisting on their tenacious ways. the flaw is present in the lecturers we despised for thinking they knew it all. the very flaw you now exhibit on twitter, without shame.

It's showing up even in interpersonal relationships.
Seems people in conflict can't discern discomfort from danger - the former can be worked through, while the latter calls for immediate exit.
Both feel uncomfortable, but people lack discernment skills & only perceive danger.

Also we don't see things from a multipolarity point of view which is how we should see things we see everything as black and white

Misogyny is so angering man. Once you see it you cannot unsee it. It is so pervasive.

As with other dimensions of social life, when friendship was considered a male preserve, it had high social status and value, but when it came to be considered a female preserve, it lost its prestige, though not its ability to meet relatedness needs." ~ Paul H. Wright

I want us to immortalise the words of people like @DavidNdii.
Let history remember that when Kenyans demanded a functioning government, they were met with contempt, arrogance and staggering hubris.
The irony of an economist dismissing the expectation of a functioning state as “unfulfilled entitlement” is mind blowing!
Kenyans pay taxes, surrender their resources to the state and entrust public officials with the responsibility of delivering public goods and services. A functioning government is the very basis of the social contract.
Kenyans are not entitled for demanding functioning hospitals, quality education, decent infrastructure and accountable institutions. These are legitimate expectations of all of us.
A country does not exist to serve the convenience of those in power. Government exists to serve its people, and those in power exercise authority delegated to them by the people- it is a public trust, exercised on behalf of citizens, to whom they remain answerable.

💯, what we are losing is nuance.. having it stripped from us means we become more intolerable, we don’t understand the fine print in things we sign, we lose the ability to to communicate beyond our community, we lack the ability to do a social dance , we don’t see bigger picture

To rebuild the referral system, you start by building up the dispensaries, clinics and hospitals downstream first.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has announced plans to reposition Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) as a specialised referral facility, with patients expected to seek initial treatment at lower-level hospitals before being referred for advanced care.

Kenyatta National Hospital has received Ksh. 130M in donations including 96 orthopedic beds. Presiding over the ceremony, Duale urged private sector to support health industry to achieve UHC. We also just blew 700 million on an exhibition sports match. We are led by idiots.

Finance ministers see the full picture. The health community doesn't always.

The world needs to start paying attention. We will break 15,000 deaths by the new year. And just because Ebola isn’t going to become a pandemic doesn’t mean it is not a global health security threat as well as a humanitarian disaster.
I have worked on Ebola outbreaks for more than 30 years. I have never stopped feeling the weight of each life lost.
Yesterday I stood before more than 40 African Ministers and said what the data tells us: we are not winning so far. 10,172 confirmed cases. 4,932 people gone.
I said it live and in the open. That is the only way to fight an outbreak like this.
What gives me hope is that no Minister looked away. Together, we agreed to prepare every country, coordinate across our borders and keep those borders open while watching them closely. Our partners are standing behind Africa’s plan.
Ebola anywhere in Africa demands preparedness everywhere in Africa. We will get there, together.
