Hi @PhilBentleyCEO, The fantastic Mitie team at St George’s are balloting about going on strike because Mitie want to cut their hours and jobs. The opposite was promised when the contract was awarded. Will you meet with me and @GMBSouthern ASAP to discuss? Thanks, Rosena

I'm excited that we will be looking at climate change as our "big problem" in @stsucl next year, showcasing how STS helps us understand the world. Already on our open day today we've had some great thoughts from potential students on "can science solve climate change?".
We're at the @ucl open day, asking the #stsbigproblems - Can Science solve climate change? Come and see us in the north cloisters!
These are the scenes right now at University College London for the protest to demand cleaners, security and catering staff are brought back in-house! #Solidarity @BringThemInUCL @UCLUnison @unisontweets #BringThemIn #UCL

Ph.D students suffer from anxiety and #depression at rates that far exceed the general population. A recent study suggests that mindfulness interventions—a form of exercise for the brain—may help. @ScienceCareers fcld.ly/1wg7ya4

The drugs don't work: my @stsucl @turinginst piece in @nature today on how AI in @NHSuk could drive inequality and why we need to think differently and look at ethics on multiple scales - including societal.
New @Nature comment by @melaniesmallman (Turing & @UCL) looks at @NHSuk Code of Conduct for #AI in #healthcare: "People worry about the kind of world that tech will create, not just about harm to individuals. Our policies must show similar sophistication." go.nature.com/2Tun8uu

Asking right questions is going to be so critical for the future of medicine. Stick the wrong questions & assumptions into artificial intelligence & it risks becoming artificial stupidity, self-perpetuating & hidden in an impenetrable black box.@PaulLikeMe @EricTopol
Welcome to the NHS Wales Modelling Collaborative. There are some seriously clever people in this room - in operational services we need to learn how to ask them the right question.

The @UniofExeter twitter has pointed out to me that I erroneously use ‘salary’ here. The Exeter VC does not receive this grotesquely high sum as a salary, rather it is made up of component bits, including an actual grotesquely high salary, pension contributions, bonus payment etc
Periodic reminder that the Exeter VC is in line to receive a £830,000 salary, meanwhile professional service staff at Exeter - who actually do bread & butter activities of the university - have been identified as a cost to be cut. This sector is rotten.

Just took the dog for a swim. Tied a breeze-block to its collar. Nice and heavy. Likely to improve its traction.
Just re-tabled my amendment to the Withdrawal Agreement. It reads; <At end add: ‘but insists on an expiry date to the backstop.’> Short and sweet. Likely to appeal to moderate MPs who just want #Brexit sorted.

You, a complete and total fool, no idea about how anything works: er you can't take pictures of abstract objects that's ridiculous. Me, calm and composed and only smug to the extent that it is justified, aiming my camera at The Present State Of Logical Empiricism:
