In the womb, naturally, 3 day old embryos fail at an 85% rate. Untested IVF blastocysts fail at roughly a 60% rate (after failing to reach the blastocyst stage at a 40-60% rate), but only at a 30-50% rate after genetic screening. At what point are you actually "killing kids" vs just duplicating what nature is already doing with slightly more control over the outcomes? The overall live birth rate is identical between natural conception and IVF with genetic testing and selection. I maintain the issue people have with choosing the surviving embryos is that it's an affront against the gods.

“IF THEY DON’T HAVE ANOTHER CHILD WITH CF”
This post is about receiving an IVF grant they will use to create not just one additional child but dozens and many will inevitably have CF.
Just because the embryo is three days old and lives in a lab does not mean that they did not “have” him. He is alive.
They just chose not to SEE him or VALUE him.
Our philosophy and our ethics around eugenics, pregnancy, childcare, abortion, and statistics is weak and flimsy (in both directions). In this case, the parents will be better able to take care of their child with CF if they don't have another child with CF. This is more likely than not to lead to a future for their family where both children feel loved, because both children will have their needs met. Embryos already fail to result in a live birth at a 70-85% rate, so it's really difficult to claim a lack of ethics on the basis of embryo destruction alone. "Playing God" and choosing embryos does require some amount of careful ethical consideration, but when it comes to claims of eugenics, males with CF have over 97% infertility rates, which means that they would be selecting for their genes to be more likely to be passed on rather than less likely to be passed on. So I suppose this all boils down to an age-old affront against the gods/defying fate sensibility.
Euphemism Translator:
Congratulations to our September 2026 recipients, who received a grant to discover and destroy (or eternally freeze) any embryo that shares their living daughter's genetic condition.
Chelsea and Dayton already have a two-year-old, Chase, who has Cystic Fibrosis, a life they love, a child they treasure. But when considering a sibling, they decided a child like Chase was no longer acceptable. So they will create several embryos in a lab, test each for the gene Chase carries, and mark the affected ones as undesirable.
Baby Quest is funding the selection.
The ones who pass the test will be told, one day, about "all the people who helped bring them into our lives" and not about the brothers and sisters who were graded and rejected for having the same condition as the adorable child in the photo.
This is eugenics with a smiling family at sunset.
The message to Chase, eventually, is unavoidable: we loved you, but we made sure your sibling wouldn't be you.
Even North Korea has music. Living under brutal oppression with no music must be hell.

This is far and away the most unhinged encounter I've had on this platform since Elon took it over. And it's with an account with 4.5 MILLION followers! That Elon follows!
For the record, I was referring to the person who originally released the video, not Massimo.
What a weak, fragile religion. Has to threaten and kill young women to protect themselves from some words.
“If you don’t confess, if you don’t sign this paper, we’ll rape your sister in front of you.”
In January 2026, 21-year-old twin sisters Taraneh and Romina Rahimi were dragged from their beds by the IRGC following anti-regime protests in Iran.
They have been abused, tortured, denied medical treatment and threatened with rape and sexual abuse.
Taraneh’s injuries are reportedly so severe she cannot walk.
In August, following a sham trial where they were denied legal representation, the girls were convicted of “waging war against God.”.
Taraneh was sentenced to DEATH.
Romina was sentenced to 25 YEARS in prison.
For protesting against a brutal Islamist dictatorship that denies women their most basic human rights.
This is the Islamic Republic’s justice system.

I hate it when you write something and then you read it and it reads like AI wrote it.
I have a nightmare that "AI slop" as a writing style continues to grab market share in the information landscape, eventually becoming the dominant style of all major content vehicles (novels, movies, poems, theater, music, grammar etc etc). It becomes so prevalent that the vast majority of human-created writing eventually become indistinguishable from AI slop.
And not long after all our writing becomes AI slop, all our thinking will become AI slop, and not long after that, our lives will become AI slop

Islamist terrorists carried out a horrific massacre against Jordan’s Christian community today in Karak, south of Amman. The three attackers opened fire during a funeral at St. George Orthodox Church, killing seven people and wounding dozens in an atrocity that sent shockwaves through Christian communities across the Middle East. King Abdullah II vowed to confront those seeking to destabilize Jordan and threaten its centuries-old Christian presence. Jordanians from across the political spectrum have rallied behind his commitment to combating ISIS-inspired Islamist terrorism. Public outrage intensified after CCTV footage of the attack circulated online, revealing the cold-blooded targeting of defenseless civilians gathered to mourn a loved one.
What is particularly revealing is that some of the same people condemning today’s massacre of Jordanian Christians celebrated or excused Hamas’s equally brutal murder of Israeli civilians on October 7. It is remarkable how readily some affirm the sanctity of innocent civilian life in one context and correctly denounce its killing as terrorism, yet deny that same humanity in another and rebrand the murder of civilians as “resistance.”
The funny thing is that these people are crowing about me saying this about somebody it's true for. They could easily find a counterexample if I was wrong, but they haven't.
I remember when, just over a decade ago, people on the left went from calm and rational (if sanctimonious) to unhinged and vile and still somehow believing the way they talk makes them appear morally superior to the people they're talking to? (It does not).

Both hilarious and common (although I suspect this comes from her not enjoying having to sell stuff, unlike people like Hasan Piker, who relishes owning things and raking in cash to buy more things).
I've become more of a free speech absolutist over the years, but I do think that calls for genocide are closer to a specific threat than a general threat due to the mentality of mobs. Maybe hearings like this are the best way to handle it, if only these hearings had the sway they used to have.
I think you can probably see this trend in the previous slave colonies of the British Empire, too. I'm not as knowledgeable of the details of each colony, but the countries and communities that just moved on from slavery seem to be doing better than similar societies that have focused on the legacy of slavery. At some point you just have to learn to play the cards you were dealt.
Can somebody name me a country whose leaders have touted postcolonial theory and rhetoric in its nascent state, that is actually successful today?
The lessons for Gaza are in history: every attempt at grounding your founding ethos in grievance never works out.
As the European powers withdrew from their colonies in the early part of the 20th century, those leaders in Africa and South Asia that drew heavily on postcolonial theory to critique colonial legacies in order to usurp power and shape their national identities and policies, were not as successful as those who didn't.
Why were the Four Asian Tigers (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and South Korea) so successful in achieving high levels of development and economic growth?
It's because they all prioritized the economy over other social issues. Two of them - HK and Singapore - did not shit all over their colonial legacy and instead, built on it.
When Deng Xiaopeng decided to pivot and bring China into modernity, he focused on market reforms and an overall drive to develop its export economy and rapid industrialization. It's only now that you hear murmurings of stirring up ghosts of the Opium War and "Western humiliation."
By contrast, social and economic issues were always on the forefront in India and deployed cynically for power grabs, and so developmentally, it lagged behind.
Take it from Lee Kuan Yew on the British:
"the British left institutions behind them, including in Singapore. We had the rule of law, we had statutes, we had the English language and we were wise enough not to change any of that. They have helped us to grow. Their institutions were already working. What I did was to make sure that we did not subvert the institutions but reinforced them."
The playbook is so transparent and it's been tried and tested. Postcolonial theory is a CANCER for the well-being and prosperity of the truly marginalized people. It retards development in so many ways, including and most importantly, in hacking the collective psyche.

There's a large Vietnamese community in France 🇫🇷. Vietnam was a French colony that was ruled more directly and for longer than Algeria in many respects.
Vietnamese kids top the French education rankings, have some of the lowest unemployment of any immigrant group, and somehow managed not to set Paris on fire.
Weird how some use “colonial trauma” as a reason to succeed and others treat it as a reason to riot
American-Egyptian activist Eman Mabrouk celebrates the riots in France: ''I think burn it all down, stop sucking European Master's dicks, liberation isn't going to be pretty, it's going to cost blood, it's going to cost lives.''
Really cool how this third world bio-weapon somehow gets a piece of paper calling her American even as she agitates for race war against white people. 70,000 Instagram likes!
Also really fucking cool that so-called ''Australian'' citizen Dr. Mo Mustafa - widely known as the "Beast from the Middle East'' - collaborated with her on this Instagram reel. He calls himself an Australian for the benefits of the passport while endorsing videos like this which call for explicit race war against Europeans.
Western immigration policy has been a catastrophe for decades, how the fuck did these people get passports when they hate us this much.
This reads to me like a warning against Islamic devotion for anybody who loves life or believes in the power of love. And it happened in Saudi Arabia, so it can't even be attributed to false versions of the religion.

Fatima, every place, every country has some boundaries which you're not supposed to trespass. Haram isn't just "any" place, Muslims consider it the most sacred place and you're deliberately choosing it for your horny outlet? And then expect mercy from their govt for trespassing?

She made it! She couldn’t get a visa to Spain, but this warrior is now with us in Poland.
She survived an acid attack in Afghanistan. I invited her to join me and the brave Iranian women who were blinded by the Islamic Republic.
We will stand together on stage to send a clear message:
If the Taliban and the Islamic Republic are united in their war against women, then the women of Afghanistan and Iran are united in our fight for freedom.
