The government’s grandest plane, an A321 jet, took off from Stansted at 6.05 a.m. this morning. Burnham wasn't on it. It flew 34 minutes to Manchester to collect the PM, then set off for the Commonwealth summit in Antigua. Guido estimates the detour cost around £20,000 of taxpayer cash. Avanti not good enough for him?
Flight tracking data shows the jet landed in Manchester at 6.39 a.m. and left again at 8.06 a.m., heading for a refuelling stop in Newfoundland before the Caribbean. The government eventually publishes what every trip on the plane costs. Starmer’s same-day trip to Paris on in April came to £39,756 at roughly £20,000 a leg. Stansted to Manchester is shorter than Paris, but every additional leg brings its own landing and handling fees. About £18,000-20,000’s worth according to Guido’s fag packet maths…
The whole jaunt, there and back, comes to about 21 hours of flying. Based on Starmer’s £121,239 trip to Yerevan in May and Yvette Cooper’s £148,700 trip to Washington in December, long-haul flying on the plane costs between £9,500 and £12,400 an hour. That puts Burnham's full trip at about £250,000.

Moss and Cedar are brothers and came to us from a hoarding situation where they were keep in poor conditions with minimal human contact.
They’ve each come on a lot since arriving BUT there is still a very long way to go. In order for them to continue their journey we need to find them foster homes, ideally with view to forever.

These loyal boys arrived at Bleakholt after their owner sadly had to move into a care home 💔 💔 💔 They have clearly been well loved and well trained: they walk beautifully on both lead and harness and remain calm and non-reactive around other dogs.
Although experience with Malinois is an advantage, it isn’t essential. They are large in size, yet their manners are impeccable.
Given their age and stature, Merlin and Luka would thrive as the only pets in the household. They would make ideal companions for a single person, a couple, or a family with older teenagers who are confident around bigger dogs.

I was called yesterday by a pound we have worked with for many years now ...
A puppy was handed in yesterday - the story was he had been 'found' - but as is so often the case, we are pretty certain the 'finder' was the owner!
The puppy, now named PIPER, had clearly suffered a a broken leg and the Council would not, understandably, be able to cover the costs of hospitalisation and repair.
Piper has spent the last 24 hours in the veterinary hospital and after x-rays confirming and splinting and pain relief he has gone to stay with the kennel owner who has become a friend over the years and will care for him in her home until Tuesday when he will hopefully have the necessary surgery to repair the leg.
