Quite a few people have sent me the "Passkeys are a trap. Do not use them." post on Substack.
The post recommends people abandon passkeys and stick to passwords + TOTP, citing what appears to be concerns with attestation as the primary reason.
I’ve written a rebuttal as this is really dangerous advice and it's based on some incorrect technical claims.

Halo is now available on the App Store. It's a personal AI assistant that helps declutter the noise in your life and shows you what matters right now.
I started building Halo last year with 3 goals in mind:
- Surface what’s important before I have to ask
- Understand my life through the apps I already use
- Keep my personal data on my device
Privacy is at the core of Halo and it's what sets it apart from other AI assistants. Excited to finally share it with you.

Muse looks fantastic and equals Instinct in so many ways. All personal assistants will more or less be just as capable as the next. There is no moat anymore, it’s table stakes.
The only way to stand out now is user trust & privacy. That’s what Halo is focusing on, ensuring privacy with 100% user data stored locally.
Introducing Halo, an AI agent for iPhone I've been working on for over a year. A few things that sets it apart from any other personal agent:
- Runs on your iPhone, no server required
- Supports any LLM provider
- Custom agent harness that runs on-device
- Support for MCPs, skills, and subagents
- Self updating wiki style memory & RAG

Mumbai’s 26 skywalks are facing questions over their high costs and low usage. While BMC has spent Rs 286.58 crore on the skywalks it built, only 3,97,600 people use the city’s skywalks daily. Commuters cite poor maintenance, steep stairs, lack of lifts and escalators, accessibility issues and safety concerns as key problems.
