How did "Ramhit Yadav" turn into "Ram ne Yadav ko maara" by EC software? How did transliteration turn into translation? Translation is much harder problem than transliteration. Very likely it was fed to LLM, without verifying/debugging output.
I write on 2026 economics Nobel prize for @htTweets.

पल दो पल में कुछ कह पाया इतनी ही स'आदत काफ़ी है,
पल दो पल तुम ने मुझ को सुना इतनी ही 'इनायत काफ़ी है।
If I could say a few words in a fleeting moment, that single blessing is enough;
If you listened to me for just a moment or two, that single favor is enough.
Serious trolling, particularly α, β > 0 part!
1. Retailers without pricing power won't be able to pass MDR to customers, so MDR will eat into profit margin.
2. .4% seems quite small, but retailers typically have profit margins of 10-20%. .4% will account for substantial 2-3% of total profit.
IMO vendors will be reluctant to offer UPI option. If cost recovery was the objective, an annual fixed cost charge from consumer would have been better.
The introduction of MDR on large-value UPI transactions (i.e., above ₹2,000) is an important step towards strengthening the long-term sustainability of India’s digital payments ecosystem. It will help UPI in continuing to scale, innovate and serve consumers and businesses across the country.
A fair and appropriate distribution of MDR across ecosystem participants will support continued investment in technology, infrastructure and acceptance networks. This, in turn, can enable wider UPI acceptance, deepen the customer base and support sustained growth in transaction volumes.
Importantly, all UPI transactions - P2P and P2M - shall remain free for users. P2M UPI transactions below ₹2,000 will continue to remain free for merchants, while MDR may be levied on merchants for P2M .
RBI remains committed to ensuring that UPI continues to be safe, seamless, affordable, and accessible, while supporting the long-term sustainability and growth of India’s world-class digital payments ecosystem.
For anyone interested in ideas, India or economy, this book by @CafeEconomics should be in the reading list! Looking forward.
Congratulations @CafeEconomics
As some one who’s taught me a lot about economics, it’s only fitting that the private good your ideas have been to those of us who know you, they will now become a public good.
Really looking forward to this
Artificial Intelligence does not have extinction risk; human stupidity does! AI or for that matter any computer generates a sequence of 0s and 1s. It is harmless in itself. The problem emerges when we interface it with real world systems.
If we integrate AI into the decision making loop of nuclear missiles for example, it can obviously trigger a nuclear war! But this is not due to AGI/ASI, but human tendency to leverage technology for narrow, parochial ends without bothering about second/third order effects!
"There are decades when nothing happens: and there are weeks when decades happen."
(Who could have imagined that Lenin was describing AI impact on hard maths problems!)
the whole timeline, from the equations to today:
1822: navier writes the equations down.
1845: stokes gets them right, and his name on them.
1934: leray shows weak solutions exist forever, and leaves smoothness open.
2000: clay puts $1m on that gap. fefferman writes the official statement, four options.
2014: luo and hou watch 3d euler blow up in numerics.
2016: tao proves blowup for an averaged navier-stokes.
2021: elgindi proves euler blowup for rough data.
2023 to 2026: córdoba and martínez-zoroa build forced blowups, with a rough force.
then this year:
aug 15: buckmaster and alpöge get smooth-forced blowup for boussinesq and euler, with claude and codex.
aug 22: lean checks it.
aug 28: per wired, openai starts training its math model.
sep 1: per axios, openai's run starts, after researchers hear rumors.
sep 3: buckmaster emails openai to say what they have.
sep 6, sunday: bubeck says openai had the final solution that morning. buckmaster says he was told on the afternoon call.
sep 8, 4am: buckmaster and alpöge post three papers and the lean repo. buckmaster posts his statement.
sep 8, 17:20 utc: openai posts "we're sharing a solution to the navier-stokes millennium prize problem."

Can this model be institutionalized? Getting public-minded youngsters engaged in community service along with local urban bodies may prove effective.
#WATCH | Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh: Speaking on his campaign, Surendra Singh Chaudhary says, "It’s the river that flows right through the middle of our town, Biaora; that is the river I am currently cleaning up... I had been visiting a temple located right behind the river for a long time. Whenever I went there, I noticed that people would turn away because of the stench and the sheer amount of filth. That’s when the thought first occurred to me. Initially, I considered building a machine to clear out the waste and debris. But I didn't have the budget to build such a machine. Then, when January 26th arrived, I thought it was a good day to do something meaningful... Since then, I haven't stopped and have kept at it continuously... I received cooperation from everyone... I started alone; they (municipal corporation) saw what I was doing and then offered their support..."
He flew in an extremely risky first prototype. Besides knowledge, skill and passion, it shows his confidence in his work. Hope he pivots to some less risky, less regulated application, secures funding and scales up.

तुम्हारी दृष्टि में मैं विद्रोह हूँ
क्योंकि मेरे सवाल तुम्हारी मान्यताओं का उल्लंघन करते हैं।

If govt had investigated paper leaks with such sincerity, this movement wouldn't be needed in the first place!

On the 35th anniversary, I am thrilled to announce our oral history collection quarterbacked by @shreyasnarla: ~50 hours of recordings of the @mercatus team with the reformers and close witnesses to 1991. These conversations cover the decades before the crisis of 1991 and trace the reformers’ influences, education, careers, mentors, institutions, and the development of the ideas that later became policy. the1991project.com/oral-hist…
The collection also includes a 2016 interview with Dr. Manmohan Singh, generously shared by @ChaitanyaKalbag. 3/n

बड़े ही जोश से इंसाफ़ की ज़ंजीर खेंची थी
बड़ी ही ज़ोर से घंटी गिरी है टूट कर सर पर
With fervent hope I pulled the grand chain of justice,
Only to have the heavy bell crash down upon my head.
