This whole post is ignorant. The White House tv pool was created because many rooms in the White House, e.g. the Oval Office, are too small to accommodate all the tv outlets who may want to cover a presidential event. The same is true for Air Force One and presidential motorcades. So one network covers for all on a rotating basis. To be a part of it, an organization must have present every day a full broadcast crew, a producer or reporter and the equipment and personnel needed to record and distribute the video shot by the pool crew. At the moment, only a handful of outlets qualify. Back when ABC, CBS and NBC were dominant, they tried to keep CNN out of the pool. But CNN had the equipment and personnel to do the pool job and were admitted by court order. "Anyone with a camera," as this writer says would not qualify. And he suggests the White House could cover these events. Then it would be "official" for sure. Would he really like that better?
The “primary White House TV pool” is a completely made-up thing dressed up to look official. It is basically a group of self-important, so-called media organizations that, over time, appointed themselves “primary” and now expect everyone else to accept that they are entitled to some permanent special status above everyone else.
The whole thing is a racket made to look like an official institution. Why does anyone still buy into this crap?
Anyone with a camera can provide this footage. The White House itself could provide it. Any other organization could provide it. There is nothing inherently special about this self-appointed group, except that they have spent years telling everyone there is.

I’m a doctor. This executive order is wrong. The President does not have the expertise to make these changes.
Vaccines are overwhelmingly safe. Vaccines are effective. Vaccines DO NOT cause autism.
Breaking up vaccines will mean children have to get more shots to get the same protection, not fewer shots. It will increase hesitancy and make children less safe.
Parents should listen to their child’s pediatrician about vaccines rather than listening to an inaccurate executive order. This is so wrong.

PSA: making daylight saving time permanent would be *bad* for our collective health. Yes, there’s actually science backing this up.
Read this — it’s animated and really easy to understand, I promise.

Perpetually amazing how lawmakers suddenly have epiphanies and attacks of conscience when freed of reelection concerns.

This is a fundamental misunderstanding of the Voting Rights Act. It wasn’t meant to protect the rights of minority *politicians.* It was meant to protect the rights of minority *voters.*
PLEASE READ THIS: The congressional redistricting in Tennessee has nothing to do with race. I live in Memphis. This is the reality of the situation:
Rep. Steven Cohen (D-TN) - a white dude - has represented Memphis in Congress for nearly 20 years.
During his tenure, Republicans nominated a BLACK WOMAN as their choice FIVE times.
Democrats could have elected a black woman but she was the wrong political persuasion. So, my question to the black Democrats - did you deny Charlotte Bergmann her seat in Congress because of her skin color or her gender?
Facts matter.
Memphis Democrats loathe black Republicans more than they do white Republicans.

Just when you get used to writing it as two words… 🥲
You've been asking for this one for years. We heard you.
We announced a change in AP style at the @ACESEditors conference today: It's now healthcare, one word, in all uses.
We also changed childcare and daycare, closing them up to one word rather than two.
This guidance is live on AP Stylebook Online now.
