As the definition of "Hinduism" continues to shift toward a standard North-Indian-centric model our distinct Tamil festivals (pongal, thai poosam masi magam, karthigai theepam etc.) are being pushed to the sidelines They are Tamil festivals not "Hindu" ones! #TamilsAreNotHindus

Tamil festivals are readily categorised as Hindu when it is convenient to project a unified Hindu identity. But when it comes to public recognition, official holidays & institutional accommodation, their specifically Tamil significance appears to receive far less consideration

It is reported that some companies even in Blr, declare holiday for north indian festivals like holi but not for Pongal. Not even for Ayutha pooja that Karnataka celebrates. Why because what is "Hindu" will always be determined by N.Indians. Tamils must claim their own religion.

Tamils pre-date this so called Hinduism by thousands of years. It has been proven that the Indus Valley Civilization is NOT vedic. Indologists (Asko Parpola et al.) say that IVC is actually Tamil. Keezhadi furthers this claim. #TamilsAreNotHindus

Recently I happened to see a preposterous youtube video - author says Tamils are falsely claiming that Lord Murugan is a Tamil God. It seems He is only a Hindu God!! Tamils desperately need to identify themselves as a separate religious group, not as Hindus. #TamilsAreNotHindus
