Haha! This is crazy. Maestro v1.8.5 w/ MiniMax-Music3 just dropped. As a test, I prompted "Wheels on the Bus as a death metal song by the band Nursery Crimes." But it's Maestro, so I told it to auto-make the entire video using MiniMax-H3 for video.🤯 Free, Local & Open! 🔊🎵📽️

Has any business successfully used @Venmo's tap to pay function to receive payments? I ask because anytime we have tried, our account + my personal account get frozen for weeks. Why is this app so useless and the @VenmoSupport so bad?

BREAKING NEWS: Anthropic's latest model will NOT help you if it thinks your ML research/ML engineering is interesting, and/or will secretly degrade its IQ so that the average engineer won't notice. We are already seeing Anthropic's latest model's moderation filters our GPU inference research and programming 😭

I found a site that tracks 1,736+ dead YC startups. And every single one has a full breakdown of exactly why it failed. Here's what makes it insane: 1/ The Founding Story Every company page shows you: > When it was founded and by who > What the original YC pitch was > The exact moment things started breaking > What the founders went on to do after Sam Altman's Loopt. Garry Tan's Posterous. All documented. 2/ The Post-Mortem This is the real gold. For each startup you get: > Primary cause of failure (structural, market, team) > The exact growth problem they couldn't solve > What pivots they tried and why they failed > Whether it was an acqui-hire or a real exit Not guesses. Deeply researched breakdowns. 3/ The Missed Insights My favourite part. Heysan (W07) was pitching Paul Graham in 2007 He stopped the demo and said one feature "could be a company in itself" They ignored it. That feature was photo sharing. Instagram launched 3 years later and sold for $1 billion. 4/ The Rebuild Angle Every dead startup also shows you: > Whether the idea is still unsolved > A database schema to rebuild it > API routes and a one-shot AI prompt > The exact tech spec to ship it today Some of these ideas failed because of timing, not because they were bad. 5/ 1,736+ companies across every batch from 2005 to 2026 > Filter by industry, batch, status > Acquired vs inactive vs just dead > Full founding team details > Direct links to original YC pages

Meta Horizon OS Meta already sells the Quest systems basically at production cost, and just ignores the development costs, so don’t expect this to result in cheaper VR headsets from other companies with Quest equivalent capabilities. Even if the other companies have greater efficiency, they can’t compete with that. What it CAN do is enable a variety of high end “boutique” headsets, as you get with Varjo / Pimax / Bigscreen on SteamVR. Push on resolution, push on field of view, push on comfort. You could drive the Apple displays from Quest silicon. You could make a headset for people with extremely wide or narrow IPD or unusual head / face shapes. You could add crazy cooling systems and overclock everything. All with full app compatibility, but at higher price points. That would be great! This brings with it a tension, because Meta as a company, as well as the individual engineers, want the shine of making industry leading high-end gear. If Meta cedes those “simple scaling” axes to other headset developers, they will be left leaning in with novel new hardware systems from the research pipeline for their high end systems, which is going to lead to poor decisions. VR is held back more by software than hardware. This initiative will be a drag on software development at Meta. Unquestionably. Preparing the entire system for sharing, then maintaining good communication and trying not to break your partners will steal the focus of key developers that would be better spent improving the system. It is tempting to think this is just a matter of increasing the budget, but that is not the way it works in practice – sharing the system with partners is not a cost that can be cleanly factored out. Just allowing partner access to the full OS build for standard Quest hardware could be done very cheaply, and would open up a lot of specialty applications and location based entertainment systems, but that would be a much lower key announcement.

Zuck somehow trolled everyone. This demo used a million dollar camera array for the scans. Then was cleaned up and rigged (takes days to weeks). A PC was tethered to render the scene. It's not coming to your Quest 3. It doesn't even have face tracking! Stop it.

Apple did sell out of the original 80K batch within the first 15 minutes. All orders now are for March! VR is saved. – at San Jose, CA
If Apple actually sells out of Vision Pro tomorrow, it will be VR’s biggest day ever. It will mean Apple did over $300,000,000 in revenue for a VR device and accessories in ONE SINGLE DAY.
