Every day Palestinians in Gaza think about where to get food from, where to find water - but few think about the men who wake up every day to clean the streets, remove garbage, and prevent disease from spreading in a place where the occupation has systematically destroyed sanitation infrastructure and waste management systems. We were told it’s impossible to build a new desalination plant in Gaza using different parts that we found inside the Strip. But for The Sameer Project team, there is no impossible! This will provide a NEW source of fresh water in a genocide. We are hoping that production will be at 300,000 liters of drinkable water daily. This desalination plant will run on gas and will save us money from having to purchase from other desalination plants. Costs for water distributions will drop meaning that your money will provide more water for Palestinians in Gaza. We are in the final stages of finishing the desalination plant but we still need your material support as the cost of this ended up being $200,000. This is the last stretch, please help us finish. If we could only continue ONE initiative in Gaza, it would definitely be water. HELP: chuffed.org/project/help-us-… When we reduced water distributions, our teams got bombarded with calls from camp managers asking for water trucks. This represents the magnitude of the disaster in Gaza. 97% of the well water in Gaza is contaminated and the municipality water is not drinkable. The ONLY option people have for fresh water is for water desalination plants to arrive in a water truck. And people can walk for up to 5 kms to get the water. Currently, The Sameer Project is providing around 450,000 liters of fresh water per day for a bit less than $6,000. We get subsidized water from UNICEF and free water from MSF so we are able to provide a large amount of water for less money. Your donation goes further with us.
