Reposting my thoughts from elsewhere as it might be something for you to look into, Luther: In order to get these integration rates (which are meager for a creator with over 1M subs - I ask for around $700~ per integration with a channel of 140k), you have to demonstrate recent view statistics to the sponsor. He only gets those views anymore by paying for them. Given the number of views he's been buying, 18k a month may not break even. Looks like when promoting through Google, it can range from $.03-.20 per view. Even so, those rates are for skipable ads and feed ads that may not guarantee a view. If we take an average of 11.5 cents per placement, then getting 50k views would cost $5,750 if every person who saw the ad clicked on it. Taking the lowest estimate, it would be $1,500 per 50k views. It's possible he's stuck in a vicious cycle where he has to pay for views to attract sponsors and then dumps all the money he makes from ad reads immediately back into views. I'd be curious if there's a correlation between videos with external sponsors on them and lower views versus videos where the only sponsor is CBC (do they even exist?). I wonder because the logical thing to do if you're in that situation is to only pay to promote videos advertising your own product such as to both get sales and to pump the view numbers to sell to sponsors while letting the externally sponsored videos anguish as they've already been paid for regardless.
