Online now: Transcriptional regulation of disease-relevant microglial activation programs dlvr.it/TTm9zl
Check out our latest pre-print on decoding regulators of microglia states using CRISPR screening and multi-omics!
I’m super excited to announce our preprint on Transcriptional regulation of disease-relevant microglial activation programs. To determine regulators of microglia activation states, we performed six transcription factor-wide CRISPRi screens. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
I'm so thankful for all the invaluable mentorship and support I have received at the Streets lab and can't wait to start at the @UCSF @BerkeleyBioE PhD program!

Grateful for our Documented Dreamers, Fedora, Sashank, & Shristi, and Patrick, an immigration lawyer, for joining me to discuss the need for comprehensive immigration reform.
Fedora said it best, Documented Dreamers are American at heart and deserve to be American on paper.

This is absolutely heartbreaking and unjust. Jade is a brilliant and kind woman, who does not deserve this.
After spending nearly 20 years in America with lawful status, Jade is self-deporting today to a country she hasn't lived in since age 5.
It is time to #ImproveTheDream and permanently end aging out.

I have been lawfully in the United States for 17 years (since age 10), yet had no pathway to citizenship other than marriage. A couple years ago, I decided I’d create a short film to raise awareness about this issue. Watch the full film at youtu.be/tOS-4gCVk30 (1/5).

"Why are we making it so difficult for people who have maintained legal status to do all of this mental gymnastics with the immigration system just to stay?"
Shristi is an Iowan studying at @UNC and @DukeU as a @RobertsonPrgm scholar.

"I'm afraid it's too late, because, along with an alien, I'm a Disney princess as well. And when the clock strikes 12 on my 21st birthday, I'll be kicked out."

This is beautiful. And hauntingly depressing. And unfortunately, all too relatable.
250,000 of us are in danger of living out this poem upon turning 21.
They say age is just a number, but for me, it’s my fate.
Every child is excited for their 21st birthday, but for more than 200,000 documented dreamers, it is the day we dread the most, as we are at the risk of being forced to leave America, the only country we’ve known as home.

Yup, that's him! @TheDipPatel is THE reason why our movement has gotten this far. He, and the rest of @ImproveTheDream, have been working tirelessly to make sure Documented Dreamers get the protection they need. I am proud to know Dip as a kind friend and an inspiring leader.
THIS is what smart, diligent immigration advocacy looks like: @TheDipPatel of @ImproveTheDream staking out the House alone at 10pm on a Tuesday, pitching his amendment to everyone relevant.

.@RepDeborahRoss and @RepMMM's bipartisan amendment to protect children of long-term visa holders from aging out has passed as a part of En Bloc 4!
Passage of this makes it clear that keeping American raised talent here is important for our prosperity and national security.

Last month, Impact leadership and winners from our essay contest for South Asian DREAMers met with @vp, @AmbRice46, and @whitehouse Director of Speechwriting, Vinay Reddy. Each of these DREAMers grew up in the US but risks facing self-deportation due to aging out. (1/3)

Documented Dreamers are Americans in every respect, except on paper.
It's time to pass the America's CHILDREN Act and give them the futures they deserve.

One of my immigration reform bills, America's Children Act, which has bipartisan support, would provide a pathway to citizenship for children of long-term visa holders who have been waiting for a green card. spectrumnews1.com/ca/orange-…
