In just these past two weeks we have seen: 1. Widespread civil unrest and riots in France. 2. Widespread civil unrest and riots in Albania. 3. Widespread civil unrest and riots in Italy. 4. Widespread civil unrest and riots in Spain. 5. Widespread civil unrest and riots in Portugal. 6. Widespread civil unrest and riots in Belgium. 7. Widespread civil unrest and riots in Serbia. 8. Widespread civil unrest and riots in Georgia. 9. Widespread civil unrest and an apparent judicial coup in Poland. 10. Widespread civil unrest and riots in Czechia (including an attempted takeover of the Parliament building). 11. Widespread student protests in Greece. 12. Targeted student protests in Indonesia. 13. Localized violent protests in India. 14. An apparently fraudulent election in Brazil where the presumed presidential election winner was forced to flee the country under threat of arrest by his opponent. 15. The uncovering of a Color Revolution plot in the USA led by embittered former USAID employees and ex-military members. That’s a lot to be happening all at once, don’t you think? And the USA is having midterm elections next week. You know, if I was a conspiracy-minded type I might be connecting some dots here. 🧐

Central planning destroys the Earth and everything beautiful about it. Between 1948 and 1973, the Soviet Union slaughtered 180,000 whales in the Southern Ocean alone, often falsifying the catch numbers they reported to the International Whaling Commission. Soviet ships hunted species already near commercial extinction: humpbacks, blues, fins, and even orcas. They killed them at a staggering loss, processed them inefficiently, and dumped enormous quantities of oil and meat that exceeded any plausible domestic demand. The operation was economically irrational by any measure. Which is exactly what you should expect. No Soviet whaling captain owned the vessel or the whales. No bureaucrat in Moscow bore the cost of depleting the stock. The entire operation ran on state quotas, state ships, and state salaries. Property rights price scarcity into human decisions. Strip them away, and you strip away the signal that tells fishermen, farmers, and whalers when to stop. The incentive structure pointed in exactly one direction: maximize tonnage to hit the plan numbers, regardless of long-run consequences. Private whalers operating in a system of enforceable property rights face a brutal disciplining mechanism: overfish, and you destroy your own future revenue. The Soviet state answered to a five-year plan, not profit and loss. Garrett Hardin called this the tragedy of the commons. The Soviets ran that tragedy at industrial scale, with military logistics, for three decades. Hundreds of thousands of whales paid the price.

Doing chores as a kid predicts how your life turns out better than your IQ does. Harvard followed 456 boys from Boston's poorest neighborhoods from age 14 all the way to 47. The ones who worked hard as kids, chores, odd jobs, whatever, grew up mentally healthier and had better relationships. That mattered more than how smart they were or how much money their family had. Kentrell kind of explained why without meaning to. Coolest man on earth, but hella structure. A Berkeley psychologist named Diana Baumrind spent the '60s studying exactly that combo. Parents who were warm and strict at the same time raised the most capable, independent kids. Strict with no warmth did worse. So did fun with no rules. Look at his dad's list. Out the door by 6:50am. Homework gets checked, no excuses. No dishes left in the sink. In bed by 10. Plus a four-week deep cleaning rotation that ends with him hosing down the outside of the house. Then look at what he gets back. Friday after 6 is his once chores are done. Saturday he can be out on the block till 10 and home by 11. And the Sunday laundry line says Dad will help if he's not working. Pretty much every rule on there earns him something. An 8-year-old can understand that deal. When you start matters too. Marty Rossmann at the University of Minnesota went back through 84 kids from Baumrind's research. The ones doing chores at 3 or 4 were doing the best in their mid-20s, and it predicted that better than IQ did. Kids who didn't get chores till 15 or 16 mostly resented them, and it backfired. Most of us grew up with this. In a 2014 survey of 1,001 American adults, 82% said they had regular chores as kids. Only 28% make their own kids do them. A kid who was 10 when that survey ran is 22 now. Some of the people in these replies are about that age, saving a stranger's dad's chore list so they can run it on themselves.
My dad sent me my chore list from when I was a kid.. this shit started at 8 years old… my pop was the coolest man on earth but he had hella structure & rules in the house

Dave Foley was ordered to pay his ex-wife $17,700 a month in child support. That was five times what he actually earned. If he set foot in Canada, he would be arrested at the border. When he asked the judge how he’d feed his daughter from his second marriage, he says the court’s answer was simple: “They can rot in hell.” In 1997, Foley was starring on NBC’s NewsRadio and making about $1 million a year. That year, he separated from his first wife, Tabatha Southey. An Ontario judge set his payments at $17,700 a month, or $212,400 a year after taxes, based on his sitcom salary. Two years later, NBC canceled the show. His income dropped by nearly 80%. He went back to court to lower the payments. The judge said no. The court ruled he had made $1 million once, so he should keep paying like he still did. His ex-wife lived in a $2.5 million house on a park in Toronto. Foley rented a small loft in downtown LA. By 2011, he owed more than $500,000 in back payments. Ontario threatened to pull his passport and issued a warrant for his arrest if he came home. In the video below, Foley explains the math: “I’m paying about five times my income every month in child support, based on a show that hasn’t been on for 12 years.” He couldn’t work in Canada again until he landed a new sitcom in 2014 and had his paychecks garnished at the source. The case for the court: a parent shouldn’t get to slash support just because their career slows down. The case for Dave: locking a canceled actor into 1990s sitcom money under threat of prison is extortion. Should child support be tied to what you earn today, or the best year you ever had?

No one in the Soviet Union was arrested for "political opinions.” They were arrested for “treason,” “sabotage,” or any other crime the system came up with against its political opponents. Some of the charges were even true; others were completely baseless, but that did not matter—the verdict was always the same: guilty. And that is the whole point. When you do not have the rule of law, as Brazil seems to no longer have, the law no longer exists to punish criminals. It becomes merely a tool used against those who dare defy the system.
Who threatened to jail Bolsonaro for his political opinions? These people are either illiterate idiots or sociopathic liars. Sometimes both.
