Did the interviewer know that my Jewish grandparents were expelled from Iraq and Tunisia, where their families had lived for centuries?
They can't go back or get citizenship either, yet no one questions it as "unequal" or "unfair."
They only do that to the one country, Israel, that took them in.

The President of Microsoft tells ITV News that AI has advanced faster than almost anyone predicted and warns that human beings risk losing control of the technology without urgent regulation.
Brad Smith calls for independent testing of new AI models, mandatory reporting when things go wrong and for what he calls an “emergency brake”.
He says governments should be able to order the shutdown of AI systems in the same way they can ground aircraft over safety concerns.

Miriam Margolyes just sounds like a run of the mill racist here. It’s very uncomfortable viewing.

This bloke was one of my lecturers at City University when I was doing my post grad. He was unpleasant at the time but this is truly disgusting and deranged.
I watched the BBC1 TV news at Six and was startled to watch coverage of this memorial. It far exceeded the news value of the occasion in length and content. As usual alarm about levels of ugly anti semitism lacked any proper context: the slaughter in Gaza bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2z…

Now very proud of my son Joseph who’s taken on a cricket challenge in honour of his Granny who he misses greatly.

And yet in many more ways - it was a match purely between Argentina and Spain.
"In many ways, this game, Argentina-Spain, was almost a proxy for Israel vs Palestine, rightly or wrongly."
@BardemAntarctic and @mehdirhasan discuss why Spain’s World Cup win was a defeat for Israel, given the latter’s loud support for Argentina.

ITV News has made a brilliant and evocative short documentary about the night the UK voted to leave the EU. You may find it triggering, or joyful, or profoundly depressing. I urge you to watch it

Steve Bray blasting Ode to Joy, ruining nationally historic moments like this for us and posterity, is a complete disgrace. A yob.

Roy Hattersley played an important and under-rated role in the rehabilitation of Labour after its near collapse in the early 1980s. He was also an accomplished historian and writer, and very funny.
Roy was a dear friend and close colleague of my dad. He has been part of my de facto extended family most of my conscious life and I am deeply sad to learn of his death. Sincere condolences to Maggie and all his friends and relations
