idk, maybe it's because i lived through the livejournal/ffnet/wattpad/tumblr/etc censorship purges, but people downloading their favorites fics for personal archival and sharing them when the originals are inaccessible has always been a huge part of keeping fandom culture alive

am I too woke of a fic writer to be a little conflicted about fics being downloaded to personal drives without the author’s knowledge and shared/read without the author gaining any site engagment or is this something I should brush off and get over /gen

if you’re told to take it down, you have to take it down. and if you don’t, well you better hope the author isn’t that serious about their work. because they are legally allowed to issue a DMCA takedown and can file for copyright infringement. yall have fun with that

Harry's magic penetrating Draco's pussy ohhh.. Harry getting himself cucked by his own magic, wanting to shove his hard dick onto Draco's gaping and pulsing cunt, opening and closing as whisps of his magic thrusts in and out but he can't because his magic strapped him down

i hope the writers behaving so weirdly towards their own readers remember that these people with gdrive links definitely started these archives for their own personal use, and when the website goes back up they will all probably revoke access to everyone else

Machines are tools, not persons. Today, some propose granting these systems rights, or even legal personhood. Such an approach risks obscuring human responsibility and leaving those who suffer harm to confront a faceless entity.

i swear depression gives you brain damage. No cap. Like I feel like I’ve lost so much brain capacity after the really really bad depressive episodes I’ve had in the past few years. My memory is SO SO SO bad now. I can’t recall shit. I feel so dumb all of the time.

the entire ethical debate about ppl sharing google drives of fanfictions makes me kinda laugh because fanfiction is illegal in and of itself like you are using characters that you do not own without paying a license for it !!! you are partaking in

I think there's something to be said for being cognizant that, if you are posting your works on a public archive, the public will have access to it. And if download is a feature of that archive, people will download. If you are against downloads, maybe it isn't the right site.

Regarding people downloading fics and post them on drives to share: I'm a writer, I don't care. ARCHIVE THEM. I post them on an archive. Share them with whoever, as long as they're not feeding it to AI or malicious intents. Enjoy them. Come back to give me a kudo or a comment, -
