"Flow Typing: A New Lens on Linearity" is a nice improvement for linear types and an alternative to borrowing: people.cs.nott.ac.uk/pszgmh/…. It uses lenses on the typing context to be able to tell that a linear value is not consumed / dropped by a function that just reads it.

I've resurrected the comonad.com/reader, interleaved a ton of contemporaneous content I had stored elsewhere, and made a couple of the articles interactive by moving their demo code into web assembly using modern GHC. Please let me know if you run into any issues. #Haskell

Made an Obsidian plugin that turns audio files into interactive editable transcripts embedded within ordinary Markdown documents. 🔈✏️ github.com/andymatuschak/int… With these transcripts, you can: * hold Command and click anywhere in the transcript to start playing the audio file from there * delete regions like ordinary text; audio playback will skip those segments * copy and paste regions like ordinary text, preserving playback support * position your cursor and press Return twice to split the transcript, so you can interleave normal Markdown

In my house somebody has to run around screaming in the night, and aside from mental health episodes it's generally not me, so it falls to this guy
I stayed at someone's house last week and they have a cat. And I never knew this but, when you go to sleep... cats just wander about the house catting all night? You can't "put a cat to bed"?! The cat just... gets the house for a while?! Fucking nuts.

using Megaparsec.choice instead of alternative (<|>) helps GHC compile parsers faster. If this were a paper, it would be called “Choice is better than the alternative”

re: census: online only, but nw, if you don't have access to a computer, you can use your smartphone too! …only the site doesn't work, there's no backup for people w/o internet access, the website "is experiencing a high volume of traffic," and their help line won't connect.

I'm guessing @stats_canada is about to get a lot of questions about why the census isn't working. this ought to be amusing :)
