Disagree here. True decentralization behaves like mycelia networks. We'll see ever more chains, but most of the network will be out of sight for 'regular users'. (This is the dominant trend in crypto, complexity, diversity will keep growing)

My best current guess of the global future of the crypto industry…
A US regime of highly regulated and TradFi -integrated major players, small in number and oligopolistic in nature over time.
An Asian regime of one or two key players, CCP approved and global South in nature.
A global regulatory arbitrage regime that connects the two worlds but is larger than both.
Basically, that is how the existing financial system works due to geopolitics, along with technology and other key economic systems.
Capital finds a way. Always.
They greedily grab mushrooms, without understanding the mycelia dynamics. And that's also why people keep declaring the death of crypto.
Don't forget that the mushroom can be cut of, and die. Mycelia can potentially live forever. Best value is still to be found under the ground. That's why most people new to crypto burn themselves.
The big verticals you refer to are the mushrooms in the analogy. There will be a few dominant tokens for sure, but the most important dynamic is what happens under the ground, out of sight. More and more entanglement, diversity and complexity.
