We're committed to diversity but we can't hire you because you don't have experience even though we seem to know the reason you don't have experience is because people like us won't hire you but we still love diversity & if you need proof just look at our all-BIPOC support staff
Exhausted and worried for my Korean mom and grandmother getting attacked in public, my half-Asian kids who have experienced racism at school, and our extended AAPI community.
After 5 years in rural MN/ND I have normalized the code switching I do to “fit in” when in public. I literally have an outfit I wear — flannel shirt, boots, fishing cap — and automatically adapt my stance, body language and tone of voice to make white people feel more at ease.
I have been told by former in-laws to just move if we don’t feel comfortable here. As if that will solve the problem.
Hate is learned. Hate needs a scapegoat. Teach love.
