We got your back, New York!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Several figures here aren’t federal results or NY-specific. The $472B combines US wide pledges: Micron's $250B is nationwide (NY site $100B) Anthropic's $50B covers TX and NY. The 48% murder drop is from NY's state run GIVE program (28 departments, Jan – May 2026). arkolith.com/news/news-micr… therepublic.com/?p=843020 governor.ny.gov/news/safer-str…

Former Stevens adviser:
Jason is vaporizing Haley’s future so that he can be a main character in this moment and it is sad to watch her participate in that. He was an extraordinarily toxic presence, was verbally abusive to staff and had some of the worst political instincts I’ve ever witnessed.

President Trump says he thought tonight's rally in Florida would be his last one of the cycle: "I thought this was it. I thought I could relax. 28 days of this crap in a row is a lot. It's a lot. My voice is about- operating at about 49.2%. And then they called me in Iowa and they called me in Kansas, and they said, "Sir, would it be possible to do a little rally of about 50,000 people each?" And I said, "Does it matter?" They said, "We just want to make sure that we win."

Do we have to say this again? If DOJ disagrees with a court order it can disagree with it but it can’t just disobey it & say “well, we’re appealing.”
UPDATE: The Trump administration let a federal judge’s 5 p.m. deadline pass without handing over its list of 20,000 California voters it calls “likely noncitizens.” It says it intends to appeal, calling the voters’ request a “fishing expedition.”

What the fuck man
Breaking News: The Trump administration has detained dozens of Afghan immigrants in Louisiana — including relatives of those who helped the U.S. military — and plans to deport them to Afghanistan, according to U.S. officials. nyti.ms/4jPVvrw

"Musk" doc is supposed to stream in Jan on HBO — the network that just became a part of the Ellisons' media empire. With Musk having made nice with Trump, and Trump cozy with the Ellisons, Alex Gibney's response at a screening to the odds of actually hitting HBO: "We'll see."

Actually, the networks literally built the infrastructure to transmit from the White House. They’re the ones with the resources to do it daily. That includes a considerable amount for staff, equipment, & travel costs. We then pool footage to other outlets. It is a public service.
The “primary White House TV pool” is a completely made-up thing dressed up to look official. It is basically a group of self-important, so-called media organizations that, over time, appointed themselves “primary” and now expect everyone else to accept that they are entitled to some permanent special status above everyone else. The whole thing is a racket made to look like an official institution. Why does anyone still buy into this crap? Anyone with a camera can provide this footage. The White House itself could provide it. Any other organization could provide it. There is nothing inherently special about this self-appointed group, except that they have spent years telling everyone there is.

Mr Speaker are you aware of the powers of Congress at all
Speaker Johnson defensive about his past projections about the Iran war, including repeatedly saying it’s just a skirmish that would be over in short order and cause just a “temporary blip” in gas prices. More than six months in, asked him if the public should judge him on his past projections that were off base? “That is one of the stupidest questions you've ever asked,” he snapped. Johnson said: “I have nothing to do with the prosecution of the war across the globe.”  Asked the speaker about him selling this to the public and the cost of war to taxpayers:

Ossoff: While the sailors on the Lincoln fight his war, while he fruitlessly drains our munitions and oil reserves, the president sleeps through his meetings. He golfs and trades stocks. So he doesn’t want to do the job. He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the Emir of Qatar.

He's describing the cities where all the people live
Tom Emmer: "Minnesota doesn't necessarily lean Democrat. In fact, if you look at the 2024 presidential heat map, it is overwhelmingly red. There is a blue dot essentially in the Twin Cities."

NEW from me: A senior Trump official is using his govt social media account to smear sitting federal judges, sparking accusations he's putting their safety at risk as judges already face a spike in threats. This “puts a bullseye” on em, one judge told me. huffpost.com/entry/james-per…

It is not only evidence that Trump lost. It’s also proof, reinforced by other clear evidence, that Trump knew that he lost — and lied about it in furtherance of his criminal conspiracy to defraud the United States.
This omits my favorite piece of evidence that Trump lost in 2020, which is that he hired two different firms to find fraud and both investigated thoroughly only to issue reports concluding he lost. He buried the reports.

OK, the enrolled bill was signed by the speaker and (presumably) the presiding officer of the Senate last Thursday ⬇️. It was apparently presented to the president today.
Yeah, the bill has not been presented to the president yet. (I was waiting for Wednesday’s edition of the Record to come out to see whether it had even been signed by the presiding officers of the two houses – it has not.)

.@elonmusk says that no one can name a person who died from his aid cuts. In fact, I've met the kids who are dying, and I've talked to the families who lost children. In my columns, I've cited many, many names of people who have died because of Musk's aid cuts. A few examples: *Yamah Freeman was a 23-year-old woman who died in childbirth because Musk cut funding for the diesel for ambulances in her part of Liberia. She couldn't get to a hospital and died as people were carrying her there. I talked to her parents and sister in their village. *Gbessey Kiadu, age 1, died of malaria because of his cuts to malaria medication in Liberia. I talked to his mom in her village. *Ibrahim Koroma, an infant, died of AIDS in Sierra Leone after he interrupted HIV supplies. I talked to health workers who cared for him. *Achol Deng was an 8-year-old girl with HIV in South Sudan who died when Musk cut funding for the health care worker who provided her medicines. I talked to the healthcare workers. I could go on and on. In almost every village you go to in South Sudan, Uganda, Liberia, Sierra Leone or other countries I reported in, you find people dying because of aid cuts. I challenge Musk: Come with me on a reporting trip, and we'll talk to these moms and dads, and you'll see the dying children themselves. I think if you see the kids whose lives are at stake, maybe you'll change your mind.
Exactly. And they cannot cite a single name of someone who died out of the “millions” they falsely claim have died. Not a single name!

What this means is that the jury verdict that determined that @realDonaldTrump had sexually abused my friend E. Jean Carroll by penetrating her vagina with his fingers, and therefore had defamed her by denying that he had done so, will stand as a final and conclusive judgment. The highly respected district judge who tried the case, the Hon. Lewis A. Kaplan, correctly stated multiple times that the jury's finding of sexual abuse under New York law meant that, in common parlance and under the law of most jurisdictions, Donald Trump was found to have raped E. Jean. So henceforth and forever more, it will be completely accurate—and utterly inactionable under the common and constitutional law of defamation—to state the following fact: DONALD J. TRUMP IS AN ADJUDICATED RAPIST.
NEW: Supreme Court denies review of E. Jean Carroll's first trial victory against Trump.
