A clock company was given a 140 year old bridge to repair. Four days after it reopened, the bridge fell into the river with 500 people on it. 135 died, more than 50 of them children. The man accused was later weighed in sweets at a ceremony in the same town. His name is Jaysukh Patel, managing director of the Oreva group, the company behind Ajanta clocks. In March 2022 the Morbi municipality gave Oreva a 15 year contract to repair and run the bridge. On 26 October 2022 the bridge reopened. The town's chief officer later said the company opened it without telling them. On 30 October 2022, around 6.40 pm, it was Sunday evening and the bridge was packed with families. It collapsed. The youngest to die was 18 months old. A forensic report said the cables were rusted, the anchors broken and the bolts loose. Ten people were arrested, including Jaysukh Patel. He was charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. In December 2023 the Gujarat High Court rejected his bail. In March 2024 the Supreme Court granted it, with a condition that he stay out of Morbi. In November 2024 a court relaxed that condition. Days later a community group in Morbi honoured him at a temple event and weighed him in sweets. Narendra Parmar, whose 10 year old daughter died on the bridge, said, "It is a matter of sadness for us to see the main accused being honoured like that." Four years later, the trial is still going on.

And it's facing legitimate over-tourism and housing crisis in the cities. I also said, don't be just a reel making tourist, and try to be a traveller. Of course, offence was taken and the immidiate response was go-to-pakistan-esque....

🚨 SHAMEFUL REGRESSION FOR INDIA 🇮🇳 FROM JEEV DAYA TO ANIMAL CRUELTY ? IF THESE EXPERIMENTS WERE CONDUCTED ON HUMANS, WOULD YOU DARE TO INTRODUCE SUCH RULES? Animals cannot consent. They cannot protest. Does that make their suffering acceptable? The voiceless are not disposable test subjects! Withdraw this draft and invest in modern, animal-free science. India must choose compassion over cruelty! India lectures the world about compassion, yet this draft risks taking animals back to laboratories as expendable test subjects. What happened to our values? Where is the compassion? Who gave anyone the right to treat sentient lives as disposable tools? @BJP4India @narendramodi @AmitShah @HMOIndia @PMOIndia @Dept_of_AHD @Min_FAHD @AwbiBallabhgarh WITHDRAW THIS DRAFT! Stop dragging India backwards. Invest in modern, animal-free science instead of normalising animal suffering. Compassion cannot be just a slogan! #SayNoToAnimalExperimentationBill #StopAnimalTesting
🚨🚨 INDIA MUST NOT GO BACKWARDS ON ANIMAL PROTECTION🚨🚨 @narendramodi @AmitShah @PMOIndia @Dept_of_AHD @Min_FAHD @FisheriesGoI @AwbiBallabhgarh India banned animal testing for cosmetics years ago. So why are proposed 2026 draft rules raising fresh concerns about safeguards for animals used in experiments? HARD-WON PROTECTIONS MUST NOT BE PUT AT RISK! Science is advancing towards organ-on-chip technology, organoids and computational models. India must invest in modern, validated alternatives, not make animal suffering easier to justify. 🇮🇳 WITHDRAW THE PROPOSED DRAFT IN ITS PRESENT FORM! Protect the voiceless. Strengthen independent oversight. Let India lead the world in ethical scientific innovation, not retreat from compassion. #SayNoToAnimalExperimentationBill #StopAnimalTesting

In other news, the think tank drafting India's roadmap to a $30 trillion economy has this week cleared 1 staircase corner, wiped 1 canteen exhaust hood, disposed of 13 grievances & sold Rs 20,500 of scrap. Well what can I say... Happy Diwali !!
As part of Special Campaign 6, unwanted and redundant items were removed from the fourth-floor corridors of NITI Aayog. The initiative has reclaimed usable space, improved the appearance of the office, and enabled more effective use of the available premises. It also reinforces the importance of keeping common areas clutter-free and maintaining a clean, orderly workplace that supports efficient space management and good governance. #SpecialCampaign6 #Swachhata #GoodGovernance @PMOIndia | @narendramodi | @Rao_InderjitS | @MIB_India | @PIB_India | @DDNewslive | @ashoklahiribjp

And don’t forget the monetization of bus depots. Without busses the depots can’t seat idle. There are so many buildings and commercial complexes which can be constructed at those prime locations

Let's say you're a party who's captured power in Maharashtra mainly by paying a lot of opposition politicians. Do you think money grows on trees? Do you think just something a simple as a 1000 more buses makes enough money for that undertaking? Please understand the realities.
