Regulation of end applications of AI makes sense in some cases (transportation, health care...) Regulation of AI research & development makes no sense.

Students don't need a perfect teacher. They need a happy teacher, who's gonna make them excited to come to school and grow a love for learning.

Eliezer and his acolytes believe it’s inevitable AIs will go “foom” without warning, meaning, one day you build an AGI and hours or days later the thing has recursively self improved into godlike intelligence and then eats the world. Is this realistic?

Repeat after me: 1. Current Auto-Regressive LLMs are *very* useful as writing aids (yes, even for medical reports). 2. They are not reliable as factual information sources. 3. Writing assistance is like driving assistance: your hands must remain on the keyboard/wheel at all times
I'm very proud of this interview. I listened to NPR every day when I arrived in the US and it was a key part of my integration process. Thank you @gbrumfiel !

Calm down. Human-level AI isn't here yet. And when it comes, it will not want to dominate humanity. Even among humans, it is not the smartest who want to dominate others and be the chief. We have countless examples on the international political scene. blogs.scientificamerican.com…

The difference between a good student and a great one is that a good student is concerned more about the outcome while a great one is fascinated by the process of learning.

• Study hard. • What others think of you is none of your business. • It's OK not to have all the answers. • Experiment, Fail, Learn and Repeat. • Knowledge comes from experience. • Imagination is important. • Do what interests you the most. • Stay curious
