We feel honored and proud that developers ranked Rust as the "most loved" language in the Stack Overflow Developer Survey for the 7th year running! We tied for "most wanted" with Python, and usage grew to 9% from 7% last year. We hope to welcome even more of you in the future! 🥰

It's because developers have never seen such a great compiler since it's literally teaching you to program. You start to feel sad for other languages :/

You can not write Rust without loving Rust.

Should be weighted by number of users, this is pretty much useless. Imagine five developers use "copper" programming language and all 5 of them love it. Boom, 100% loved. Clojure, Julia, Elixir, Rust.. are examples of this situation.

3 years ago, I've started a journey using Rust on a pilot project for one of my customers: we've managed to get incredible performance. Never looked back. I'm really glad that Rust gets the deserved attention! Good job!

We use Rust for the heavy parts and it makes a big impact. One of the libs we depend on uses Rust with some sick benchmarks compared to alternatives. github.com/madeindjs/spider

Here’s a spicy take for you: People “love” new languages because they aren’t using them at work and (by definition of it being a new language) don’t have to deal with the technical debt of long-standing products while they’re using them.

We are a team of devs with one over 50 yrs and we are learning @rustlang for embedded systems. The community is amazing. Everything from front-end web to IoT and everything in between. The future is bright in deed. Congratulations #Rust for the love you get and the joy you bring.

Especially, as Rust and Python work together, perfectly.

Rust is awesome, started to learn it this year, made 2 silly apps, it was a blast, definitely plan on using it in prod sooner or later

Slow compilation but gives very stable and secured and high performance solutions.
I also like rust as a programmer but rust can't compete with the the mother of language as C and C++ because they have a tons of library that focus on games and ml for example numpy it's used in python but the core is writen in C and C++ so for rust it will have to get a lot work
SQL Is more loved than javascript.
I'm so glad about this. Learning Rust was my best decision last year :-)
We're thrilled that Rust was voted the "most loved" language in the Stack Overflow Developer Survey! It's a testament to the hard work of the Rust community and the language's great potential.
