Utterly bizarre the Dems are openly arguing Starlink -should- be used for war.
After Elon Musk posted on X saying he had throttled Ukraine’s use of Starlink after it was used for offensive attacks, House Armed Services Committee member Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO) says the billionaire’s ability to wield that power is “beyond disturbing to me.” “It cannot and should not be the case that a tech oligarch, a private citizen, who has that much control over our national security, who is unaccountable, who is unelected, with zero transparency, is making life and death decisions on the battlefield in systems that our service members and our partners and allies rely upon,” he adds.

I’ve been using the phrase “ChatGPT is my PC” since 2023 on various platforms. Today the GOATs at @sharptechpod said it. It’s not just the OS, it’s also the compute. It’s literally a personal computer.

“While the act of creation is inherently satisfying, there’s a danger: one might find satisfaction in the labor itself and mistakenly believe that a high-quality piece of work has been created,” he said. very insightful comment from miyamoto

This, for everything. Anyone can make anything.
Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda, on generative AI and the evolution of videogame creation: 'As you mentioned earlier, this is an era where even people who aren't game designers can make games. If we broaden the definition of a 'game,' I think the era has already arrived where everyone can make games. I had always thought it would be ideal for those boundaries to disappear, so I think this has become a very good era.' youtu.be/7M3S78Igxak?si=eaGY…

This is literally why I bought it.
48 hours with the iPhone Duo. Best feature: less screen time because it’s a pain to use.

AI is not theft, and it's not bad for the environment. AI is a tool, just like the computer before it, or the calculator before that, or even the wheel. It's not going away, no matter how many tears are shed. Use the tool.

Tom Tykwer, the director of Run Lola Run, is making Volcano High with playwright Bonn Park, who directs it. They shoot live action, then use Seedance 2.5 on top of the footage. In one scene three actors lean into the camera and sing. Seedance turned them into a crowd of 20. Tykwer says it just works, and they'll use it more often. Bonn Park wanted one continuous take where the camera spins around a gym. The model had to remember what was on each side of the room when the camera came back. A test shoot proved it could. Their producer's favorite moment: a water bottle prop came back as a microscope. AI isn't replacing the crew here. A director with real taste chose to put it into how a film gets made.

What happens when a stage play meets AI filmmaking? 🎬 In BytePlus’s Next Frame, Run Lola Run director Tom Tykwer, director and playwright Bonn Park, and producer Sarika Hemi Lakhani explore Volcano High, their collaborative AI filmmaking experiment.

Amazing endorsement of X. This really is where you'll find the most optimistic, forward-looking people in tech.
The poll so far between Twitter, Bluesky and Mastodon. I think it looks less absurd than last time, but still pretty clear that the base is divided. xitter.cf/mitsuhiko/status/21143…

I hated the Republicans. But the Dems pushed me out and now I’m retweeting jcal. The future is strange indeed.
In all of your reporting, you must know the democrats were going after Elon with lawfare... between the SEC and Delaware Chancery, it was completely un-American Half of the tech and business folks who jumped ship to the republican party would still be democrats if they had not done these two things. The Dems red-pilled Silicon Valley, not Trump

$SPCX Starlink just surpassed $T Fiber in subscribers after tripling its customer base in just seven quarters. Whats even more impressive is that Starlink is adding ~1.6M subscribers per quarter versus ~400K for AT&T Fiber showing how much faster satellite networks can scale compared to laying fiber street by street.

Tesla - "Hey you guys want to license full self driving?" Car makers "Fuck off, we will crush you like a bug" Tesla- "Hey phone companies, want to license our satellite tech for phones?" Phone Companies "Fuck off, we will crush you like a bug"
AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile are jointly lobbying the FCC to preserve existing rules as @SpaceX moves closer to launching its own independent cellular network that would compete directly with the three major U.S. carriers. On Oct 20th, reps from all three major U.S. wireless carriers met with FCC officials to push back against proposed changes that would give satellite companies more freedom to offer cellular service. The carriers urged the FCC to: • Block satellite companies from using certain 5G frequencies currently used by wireless carriers. • Keep rules requiring satellite companies to get permission from wireless carriers before using their licensed spectrum. • Allow wireless carriers to maintain control over these agreements, including the ability to end them. • Reconsider proposed interference limits to protect existing cellular networks. Based on all the public communications from these carriers, and the lobbying, they are clearly worried that SpaceX's @Starlink Mobile network is going to be a major competitor to them. Starlink Mobile will become the first network operator to deploy both satellite and terrestrial spectrum. The FCC recently announced that they are considering new rules that could make it easier for satellite companies like SpaceX to offer cellular service without relying as heavily on existing wireless carriers, so this is partly what the three big carriers are fighting against.

Also AT&T CEO saying “Starlink mobile is no big deal” while shitting himself is hilarious.
