every time i see a great artwork in the timeline, i just think, what a shame it's :
- a lovely digital artifact demoted into a cropped mp4 or low res image
- hosted on a server that's now hostile to an open internet and dev ecosystem
- looked at for 5 seconds, liked, and immediately forgotten

Here’s a multimodal protocol that uses QR codes to stream data and audio to “backchannel” acknowledgement of received chunks. About 1-2KB/s
Multimodality helps when there’s an asymmetry, like here where you need to aim the phone camera.

If this is true… could be addressed with EVM computed html
A project like Terraforms can do this 4 years ago
Why can’t Safe? Or Uniswap
Not worth 1.5 billion? You don’t want decentralized immutable front ends?
Really it should be querying a node

A whole industry built around a solution looking for a problem, except the problem was actually found 15 years ago but everyone just kinda forgot about it

The knee-jerk response to critical discussions in this space has become somewhat predictable: 'skill issue, cope, seethe, salty, ngmi, etc'. These dismissals aren’t just reductive—they are a roadblock to necessary conversations about the maturation of what we're doing here.
Historically, creative movements evolve by forming distinct schools of thought, each with its own philosophies and manifestos. This is not division for the sake of division—it is clarity. It allows both creators and audiences to find what resonates with them. Yet, in NFTs, there seems to be a deep-seated fear that segmenting into more defined niches will dilute liquidity, making projects less sustainable.
As a result, we're made to worry about everything that happens under the term 'NFT' (art).
But here is the paradox: by trying to be everything to everyone, the space becomes nothing to no one. A broad, nebulous category, and a huge over-arching umbrella term like 'NFT' lacks specifics and creates decision paralysis. It is perfectly understandable then why participants, given a choice would choose hype over everything else. And it should be stated that there is absolutely nothing wrong with organic hype or when a concept and it's execution (or attempt) are in alignment.
But a Swiss modernist designer should not be lumped in with psychedelic maximalism any more than a rock musician should worry about Miles Davis winning a Grammy—just because it’s all "music."
We need a way to engage with this space without feeling like every new trend or event directly affects us or our work. We should be able to observe, appreciate, or ignore certain 'movements' without pressure to justify our stance. A mature space allows for this kind of freedom—where we can focus on what matters to us without being pulled in every direction.
The solution (as I see it) is by not avoiding subcultures and subcategories, but embracing them. The more clearly we each define our boundaries, the more we can serve and connect with those who truly align with our vision. In this instance a more fragmented scene may not be a weaker one but a richer, more navigable one.
It is time to move past the noise and build spaces worth standing behind. This can work. If this resonates, it is up to each of us to draw our own lines and define that space, giving us clear, welcoming and sustainable ways forward.
